"Wonderful service and delicious food. So far I have been twice and had a lovely salmorejo, tuna tartare, an insanely delicious lemon and pistachio cheesecake, asparagus and shrimp scrambled eggs and egg yolk flan. All delicious. Highly recommended"

An introduction to the gastronomical delights of Vejer de la Frontera
In the shadow of the church is Casa Varo, where Juan and his family run this popular dining spot with the support of Roberto in the kitchen. His Carpaccio de Atún de Almadraba (local tuna available all year round from a specialist supplier in Barbate) might just be one of the finest things you will eat in Vejer. From the Albóndigas de Chocos (cuttlefish balls), to fine cuts of Iberian pork via a slice or two of local Payoyo goat’s cheese, there’s almost nothing in here that I don’t love.

Indeed, by about 2015 the town and its nearby area had at least half a dozen buzzing places to head for, including Las Delicias, Judería, Casa Varo, while nearby Castilleria, Venta Pinto, and the famous tuna joint, Campero, in Barbate, and La Duquesa, in Medina Sidonia, were chestnuts waiting to be discovered.

Also in the historic center Vejeriego is Casa Varo, where avant-garde recipes of Mediterranean character are cooked using products from the Cádiz area. In the outskirts of Vejer de la Frontera is Castillería, a restaurant that has grilled meat as its fundamental pillar.
Vejer de la Frontera: Pueblo Blanco - Latitude 65
We chose Casa Varo because its outdoor tables were on a quiet side street beckoning us to sit down. It was almost 2 pm but we were the first to arrive. Soon there was much greeting and kissing and moving of tables as five older couples arrived.
