Reviews Summary

Bodegas Campos is celebrated for its exceptional, melt-in-your-mouth oxtail and traditional Andalusian dishes, served in a beautiful, historic setting with charming courtyards. The extensive wine list and attentive service also receive high praise. While generally a wonderful experience, some guests have noted occasional slow service, particularly in the bar area during busy times.

"Beautiful restaurant in an exquisite setting. Attention paid to the details; lighting, linen tablecloths, napkins, table silencer pads (rarity these days), young but capable staff. Excellent wine list which includes a selection of local fortified sherry styles wines (Oloroso pairing with the local jambon is incredible!). We had the Rabo de Toro rice with shitake mushrooms and asparagus (nice for spring)-creamy mouthfeel; dark, rich with red wine and gelatinous from the tail marrow -an indulgence to be sure! Paired with a bold Roja this Cordoba dish was everything we’d been hoping for!"

Mark Sullivan

"Institution in Córdoba’s. Opened over 100 years ago as a wine cellar, then a restaurant over 40 years ago.

We had the famous oxtail stew, a refreshing cold soup, and an artichoke dish topped with Iberico ham.

Service was great and the waiters could speak English."

Nicolas Laurin

"We didn’t have a reservation, but they recommended we come right at 8:00 when they opened to get a table in the bar area, which was perfect (and not too noisy/boisterous). Excellent, fresh food and a greater variety compared to most other places we ate during our week in Andalusia."

Córdoba’s Best Local Restaurants And Tapas Bars

Split across several levels, numerous little patios and dining rooms, Bodegas Campos is one of Córdoba’s most famous old restaurants. A traditional Andalusian menu is served in the formal dining spaces – think stewed bull’s tail ( rabo de toro) and the Cordoban classics, salmorejo and flamenquines – while you can snack on homemade tapas in the bar area. Wherever you choose to hang out, though, you’ll be surrounded by a voluble crowd of locals enjoying the restaurant’s very own sweet Montilla wine – and it’s fully recommended you take a glass yourself as it’s delicious.

A block east of the Plaza del Potro, this traditional old bodega with high-quality service is the epitome of all that's great about Andalusian cuisine. The dining rooms are in barrel-heavy rustic rooms and leafy traditional patios (take a look at some of the signed barrels—you may recognize a name or two, such as the former U.K. prime minister Tony Blair). Magnificent vintage flamenco posters decorate the walls.

The ultimate guide to spending 48 hours in Córdoba

12pm: A short walk from the Mosque-Cathedral, in the Axerquía neighbourhood, is Bodegas Campos, which opened its doors in 1908. It was long dedicated to the ageing and selling of wines from the Montilla-Moriles region to the south of Córdoba, but in the 1980s, it expanded to include a hotel and restaurant. When you enter this collection of old Cordoban houses and courtyards to have a drink in its tavern or eat a traditional dish in its restaurant, you’ll follow a stone lane along which wine casks once rolled.

Deliciously hip Cordoba restaurants? You bet!

We should be getting better at this by now… On the first day in a new city, we always arrive famished, nothing to eat, and no idea where to go.. In Cordoba, we did get a recharging siesta, but our moods began to spiral downward quickly as starvation set in… Like the commercial, we were both setting into diva mode, so we had to settle fast. All signs pointed to possibly our favorite of Cordoba restaurants, Bodegas Campos.
