What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bodegas Mezquita is highly praised for its authentic Andalusian and Arabic cuisine, particularly dishes like oxtail croquettes and salmorejo. The exceptional service from attentive staff is a recurring highlight, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. While most reviews are glowing, some diners found certain dishes, like the eggplant and tuna, to be less flavorful or too mushy, and occasionally found the fried calamari a bit oily.
"Excellent. A great experience. I was able to make a last minute reservation via telephone their AI reservation system. Was really easy. The service was very friendly and quick. Food was excellent. (See pictures) Enjoyed everything we tried including a Red wine from Sevilla and a Semi-sweet, local wine. Wide vegetarian options available. Highly recommended."

"On our first night in Córdoba, we chose this place after reading Google reviews. We initially went to the riverside location since it had more reviews, but they told us it was fully booked inside. They kindly offered to check availability at their other branch, and that’s how we ended up here. We were seated at a lovely table.
For drinks, we tried the Fifty-Fifty, a nice semi-sweet wine blend (50% sweet, 50% dry). The menu was quite diverse, but unfortunately, our choices didn’t quite meet our expectations. As mentioned in other reviews, the eggplant was very mushy and lacked real flavor. The tuna with mango sauce also felt quite bland and dry.
The fried calamari and bacalao were the highlights, especially the bacalao, which was slightly salty but cooked nicely and remained juicy."

"My family were pretty split on the dishes here, particularly the tajine and fried eggplant. Worth noting that the fried eggplant is mostly flour, with a slice of eggplant down the centre. They all had an interesting array of flavours which we generally enjoyed. The prawn fritter was a tad too oily. Service was excellent and Yubry was patient and attentive :)"

9 Best Restaurants In Cordoba, Spain For A True Culinary Journey
Boasting four locations in Cordoba, I feel like this is very telling of (a) its popularity and (b) just how good the food is at Bodegas Mezquita. All designed in a classic taberna (tavern) style; you can find all four in Cordoba’s Jewish Quarter. As much as I love a good fusion-type restaurant, I can appreciate Cordoba’s lack of them.

Not only is the food terrific — don’t miss the Córdoban specialty Salmorejo (think gazpacho topped with the finest Iberian ham) — but it’s also easy on the wallet. The service is stellar and the dining space is ridiculously comfortable, though usually crowded. Be sure to order the flamenquin, too.
