Reviews Summary

Casa Pepe de La Judería offers a highly regarded dining experience with exceptional service and traditional Andalusian dishes, often highlighted for its rooftop ambiance and unique flavors. While many praise the quality and presentation, some find the prices to be on the higher side for the portion sizes, and a few mention average or unmemorable dishes.

"The highlight of my dining while in Spain. Excellent, attentive service throughout. I had the Iberian ham, beef sweetbreads, and the cheesecake with raspberry sorbet. All were uniformly excellent, but the cheesecake was the crowning glory.

As a coeliac they provide a separate menu, and GF bread on the side with some fine Spanish olive oil."

Michael Wilson

"We visited Cordoba and a friend made a reservation here. Honestly, nothing special. There are plenty of places that offer the same type of dishes in the area for a fraction of the price.

The waiter offered bread as he handed us the menus, me being used to this agreed, unbeknownst to me this came with a tag of 3eur per person, for bread. The waiter then put a small amount of olive oil in our plates with no chance to get more for our expensive bread service.

We had the oxtail as it is supposed to be the specialty. It was cooked properly but that’s it, nothing memorable. We went for the full portion since the half portion was 23eur and the full one at 30. It felt very little anyways.

We also had the Rice broth (arroz meloso) with jamon and artichoke, this one was the best dish. I honestly would have sticked to this one only.

We had a portion of croquettes, again very average, seemed like typical bar snack. Forgettable.

We were never offered a drinks menu, the waiter forgot that we asked for water, there seemed to be no options for non alcoholic drinks. The tinto de verano was from a premade bottle? Like c’mon cheaper places make their own.

At the end I learn this place has a michelin guide mention. I don’t know why honestly. It makes me wonder if michelin critics were drunk when they visited the place."

Armando Reyna

"Our experience was wonderful - starting with a kind and friendly receptionist. Our waiter was patient in explaining the different dishes we were interested in. We chose the Salmorejo - cold soup , Flamenquin and the Pork Shoulder Steak. We ended the meal with the degustacion of ice cream. First time to try the cold soup and it was really nice. The Flamenquin reminded me of a cordon bleu. The pork was tended and very tasty. We loved all the dishes and we liked the idea of the degustacion of ice cream - different flavors served in one plate."

Restaurants in Cordoba

Geared toward a tourist clientele, this place is always packed, noisy, and fun, and there is live Spanish guitar music on the roof terrace most summer nights. Antiques and some wonderful old oil paintings fill this three-floor labyrinth of rooms just around the corner from the mosque, near the Judería. A full selection of tapas and house specialties includes cochinillo (crispy suckling pig) and the solidly traditional rabo de toro.

The 10 best places to taste Cordoba's gastronomy

To finish this list we will talk about Casa Pepe, a restaurant founded in 1920, this restaurant has been gaining the fame it has over the years thanks to the arts of Spanish cuisine that had its founder and was transferred to their workers. With an intact distribution and decoration in which you can observe a real traditional Cordovan tavern. The dishes to try in this place are also typical in the province, but have a more elaborate elaboration process than in the previous restaurants, where they themselves claim to use quality ingredients in each meal served.

This restaurant in the Jewish Quarter near the Mezquita-Cathedral is popular as it is listed on the Michelin Guide site. I decided to visit on a whim and splurge a little bit more on my last Andalusian meal before flying back up to Barcelona – I spent 33 Euros on my meal. I didn’t make any reservations but managed to get a seat for 1 pax – remember that Spanish people tend to eat late, so I went a bit earlier and maanged to get a table as long as I left in time for the next booking.
