What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Restaurante La Cuchara de San Lorenzo is praised for its exceptional modern Spanish cuisine with large portions and excellent value. Diners highlight the warm welcome, attentive service, and great wine selection. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, a rare instance of less hospitable service was noted.
"Warm welcome, perfect Organisation of service.
Welcome local dry wine for every table. Menu and wines in Spanish and English online. Great wine selection with fair prices.
All dishes were excellent. Big portions and nice presented. It was a pity we were only two. For larger groups I recommend to order different starters and first courses to share, which is common here. Tartare and sirloin from old cows were vera aromatic and tasty. Usually we need salt and pepper, but here, everything was perfect spiced and arranged.
The bred is a sin with olive oil!
We even bought a bottle of red to take with us and they packed rest of the great almond soup, Mazamorra Cordobese, to take home .
Thank you! We will come back"

"Lovely decorated place with modern takes on Spanish classics.
Any place can have a bad day.
Our visit was somewhat dampened by our main waitress who tolerated my faulty Spanish which seemed to have made her day worse indeed.
I would recommend that the restaurant gives its dishes corresponding numbers for the staff to navigate between the Spanish and the English version of the menu as we ended up with not just 1 of 4 starters wrong but 2 of 4 main courses wrong.
Clearly futile to make an issue, so we didn't and the dishes themselves were ok.
She left the table without checking if we wanted to order wine or additional water which is not what I would consider hospitable.
The guy who was serving the wine was genuinely friendly and the waitress with glasses was helpful as well which was much appreciated."

"This cozy restaurant offers traditional Spanish specialties with a modern twist where fresh seasonal ingredients offer original and tasty gastro experiences. We tried the Cod Brioche, The Salmorejo and a wonderful Leek with Ibérico Ham and Sea Scallops which was magnificent. Make sure you leave space for the amazing Creme Brûlée. The waitstaff were professional and helpful. Highly recommended!"

Owning the honorary title of multiple awards (including the Guía Repsol and the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand), don’t miss out on feasting at Restaurante La Cuchara de San Lorenzo — if you can nab a reservation. This one’s an excellent option for date night, and although it’s not like a hectically fancy kind of place, it still gives you those fine dining vibes, and is the sort of restaurant where you can dress up nicely. When this family-run restaurant originally opened circa 2006, the food was more of taberna-style, but it’s gotten more contemporary over the years.
Best Restaurants in Cordoba
It was 2006 when two brothers (Narciso and Paco) decided to open this wonderful restaurant in the picturesque San Lorenzo neighborhood, named after the beautiful church of San Lorenzo, which was built in the 13th century. Today it is one of the best-rated restaurants in Cordoba, even it was included in the prestigious Michelin Guide which selects the best restaurants all around the world. At La Cuchara de San Lorenzo you can try local traditional dishes such as salmorejo, flamenquín or oxtail.

If you are looking for a great place to eat who better to ask than a great local chef?. So on a recent visit to Córdoba I asked chef Adrian at La Regadera for his top recommendation, and this was it. Turned out to be something of a twofer, since the San Lorenzo neighbourhood is outside the main tourist area, and getting there involved a walk through a new (for me), and very pleasant, part of town to a picturesque square by the San Lorenzo church.

Córdoba for food and wine lovers
Founded by brothers Narciso and Paco López in 2006, La Cuchara – in the historic neighbourhood of San Lorenzo – has gone from strength to strength in the development of its menus while remaining true to its Andalucían origins. Small but elegant, with an ample terrace, it serves great food at reasonable prices, and the staff are friendly and efficient. A little off the beaten track, but worth making the effort.
