What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Taberna La Montillana is highly praised for its fusion of traditional Andalusian dishes with modern creativity. Diners consistently rave about the delicious food, attentive and friendly staff, and the warm, inviting atmosphere. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some reviews mention occasional slow service during peak times or slight issues with seating arrangements.
"My family and I really enjoyed the food!
We did some research and ordered some special cuisine of Córdoba.
“Salmorejo” - This was the first cold soup we tried in Spain and it was delicious. ❤️
“Flamenquín” - We loved this as well.
“Fried Aubergine” - The honey and cheese made the fried aubergine not that scary so even a family member who never tried egg plant, tried it!
“Iberian ham croquette” - If you like a lot of cheese you’ll like it as it’s very creamy (my parents are not a big fan of creamy texture)
Calamaritos Fritos was just ok, perhaps Córdoba wasn’t famous for seafood since it’s far from the sea. But my dad wanted it so we ordered😆"

"This spot really impressed us from the moment we arrived. The indoor and outdoor seating area are great and and manages to feel both authentic and welcoming, with beautiful details that give it a real sense of place and history.
The team working here deserves a huge shoutout. Even though it was clearly a busy night, they handled everything with so much grace and efficiency. They stayed calm, focused, and kind throughout the entire experience, and it never felt rushed or impersonal. You can tell they really care about what they do.
The food was fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu offered a great selection, with something for everyone, and each dish we tried was delicious. From the atmosphere to the service to the food, everything came together to create a memorable and enjoyable visit.
Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!"

"Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. The fried eggplant, in particular, was quite different from most places , I should note that it had a slightly sweet flavor. The portions were very generous. Service was incredibly fast, and the place was very clean.
Even though we didn’t have a reservation, they quickly arranged a table for us. All the staff were very polite. Our waiter, Manuel, was not only very kind but also highly professional!
We will definitely come back next time we’re in Córdoba!"

Though it’s been in business since 1948, La Montillana is not your average Cordoban traditional restaurant. While you’ll find all the regional classics on offer ( salmorejo, flamenquines, stewed meats and fried fish), you can also tuck into stir-fried chicken in a yakisoba sauce or a salmon curry taco. In an imaginative touch, dishes are divided into evocatively-named categories, such as ‘Memory of the Mosque’ and ‘On the Banks of the Guadalquivir’ (the river that runs through Córdoba).
