Reviews Summary

Vicus Restaurant is praised for its modern take on Catalan cuisine, with signature rice dishes and artfully presented sharing plates. Diners frequently highlight the impeccable service and the excellent value for the quality offered. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some guests have noted that portion sizes can be small, and a few have found the flavors not quite living up to the highest expectations.

"Really good food from the Region with local corresponding wine. Good service. - we had a wonderful time. 👍"

Gregor Sobirey

"I had high expectations for this place. The ambiance was great, and the staff was professional. However, I was a bit disappointed by the tomato salad and aubergine dish. The paella, on the other hand, was good, and they have a great wine selection."

Pelinsu Yılmaz

"We had such a wonderful dinner at Vicus! Beautiful understated decor in the front room with lovely classic accents (check out the gorgeous old bar). The service was nothing short of perfect. Relaxed, friendly, but also hugely helpful with my wife's allergy and a great wine recommendation. The food was superb throughout. Standout were the rice with pork ribs, the fresh tomato/melon salad and the smoky aubergine/eel dish, but everything was fresh and excellent.
Couldn't have been happier, thank you!"

The 10 Best Restaurants In The Costa Brava Region, Spain

After living in Dublin for a number of years, Elisabet Figuerola and her partner Gerard Geli decided to move back to their native Empordà to open a restaurant focusing on a modern take on traditional Catalan cuisine – and in the summer of 2011, Vicus was born. Head chef Damià Rafecas cooks up creative dishes like rack of lamb with vanilla, cabbage and parmesan and fillet of venison with pumpkin tatin, but if there’s one must-try item on Vicus’ menu it’s the restaurant’s locally grown rice-based dishes like the arròs de botifarra negra i bolets de temporada (rice with black pudding and wild mushrooms).

Its speciality are rice dishes created using locally grown grains from the paddies of nearby Pals. As well as à la carte, you can choose between the lunchtime set menu, the rice menu or the tasting menu.
