What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Restaurante La Marinera is praised for its stunning sea views and fresh seafood, especially the paella and grilled fish. While many highlight the excellent service and delicious food, a few reviews mention concerns about pricing transparency and occasional inconsistencies in food quality or service speed. The ambiance is generally considered relaxed and enjoyable, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
"Resto is by the sea with a great view, old school decorated which i find nice. I was a bit early, so got served pretty quick. There are many tables, service may take some time during peak, keep in mind. I ordered the menu of the house, costing about 26 Euros. I started with a decent salad with avocados and white wine. As a fish, i got grilled dogtooth grouper with the recommendation of the waiter. It was tasty and juicy, properly cooked. Waiters are all polite and kind. As a desert, i got fig ice cream with chocolate souce which was a good deal as well. I will visit them once more before the end of my vacation, and try the fried fish option in the menu of the house.😊"

"Please try a different place. The place is just a tourist trap. Went in with high hopes. We ordered paella but it was really disappointing. Firstly, it was made with plain rice (not the paella rice). And i don’t think the rice was roasted either. We were rather surprised when they started serving us as it was bright yellow, the rice grains were thin and translucent and paella was watery. It didn’t taste like a paella at all. And for a 2 portion paella they had exactly 2 small prawns, which was another surprising factor. It was 35 EUR for that massive plate of disappointment. I couldn’t even finish a small portion.
Plus, one of the older staff was quite rude. But the tattooed one was nice.
I would never go back to the place. I wouldn’t recommend the place at all. I’m sure there are better options around."

"We spent a lovely lunch at La Marinera. The location with the sea view is stunning. The food was good. We enjoyed sardines and grilled squid rings as starters. Both delivered great flavours. The paella was good, but it could have used more sea food in it however.
I found the menu a bit confusing with the different fish serving sizes, hence the paella choice. One thing that triggers me is that they brought bread at the beginning of the meal without mentioning that they charge for it. It is not a question of money, but it should be explained to be considered great service.
Nonetheless, we enjoyed the meal and had a good time!"

On a rocky outcrop lashed by Atlantic waves, La Marinera is all about its aquatic views: out to sparkling teal-blue expanses by day, and cocktail-bright reflections come sunset. The vast indoor-outdoor space – it seats more than 400 people across three rooms and an impressive outdoor terrace – La Marinera matches the outlook with its blue-and-white tablecloths and yacht-worthy polished woods.
Las Palmas, Canary Islands: a cultural city guide
There are dozens of restaurants along Las Canteras promenade, but a good option is to saunter past them all to La Marinera, the last restaurant on the drag, serving everything from scorpion fish to seabream to deep sea canary damsel. If you can’t decide, the three-course menu with wine is good value (c. Alonso Ajeda s/n, Plaza de la Puntilla; 928 468802).

The Atlantic-facing dining room at this casual, unpretentious seafood restaurant feels a bit dated but, even so, the fresh-from-the-net, grilled seafood keeps locals and Gran Canaria returnees coming back year after year. The sopa de marisco (fish soup) is a good entry point to a long lunch before moving on to the seriously good seafood paella. Failing that, the chopped octopus with tangy mojo verde sauce is a more-than-safe alternative.

One of the most famous fish restaurants in Las Palmas (and with good reason), La Marinera serves the freshest catch overlooking the ocean. Despite its footprint over a few different rooms, you’ll need a reservation as it packs up quickly. We took a recommendation from our enthusiastic waiter, and ordered the fried squid followed by an entire grilled sama fish with garlic and lemon.
