Reviews Summary

El Tigre Sidra Bar is celebrated for its incredible value, offering abundant free tapas with every drink, making it a budget-friendly Madrid staple. While the food is simple and plentiful, some find the atmosphere a bit too chaotic and the drink prices slightly elevated for the quality. It's a classic Madrid experience, especially for those seeking a lively, no-frills tapa crawl.

"El Tigre Sidra Bar is one of the most famous spots in Madrid for tapas, so I wanted to give it a try. When I arrived, a staff member immediately asked what I wanted to drink — since here, whatever you order comes with food included. I went for a Tinto de Verano. Both the drink and the food were okay, but you don’t get to choose what food they give you, and they don’t really care about preferences.

The atmosphere felt a bit pushy. The staff tried to be funny, but it came across more arrogant than welcoming. At one point, they hinted about tips, which felt unnecessary since tipping isn’t really a Spanish custom. The drink price is around 7 euros, so yes, you do get food with it, but I didn’t feel like it was great value.

Another downside was that there weren’t many seats available — I ended up standing to eat while a few others had chairs. Overall, it was fine, but nothing special. Personally, I wouldn’t go back and would rather try other places for tapas in the city."

Humberto Dapelo

"It was a very delicious meal. When you buy a drink, the entire dish is completely free for you,

They ask you to tip, which is fair because a drink and a plate of food only cost 7 euros. I tipped too.

But, I don't think the Spanish themselves ask for tips. 😅😂They only ask tourists. Anyway, it was fair. After 15 minutes of eating, they gave me a free bowl of meatballs. I don't know why but thank you.🥰🙏🏻"

Sarcopolo

"The place is great if you're short on money and need some cheap post-party food + drinks, but unfortunately my stomach was a bit funky after eating some tapas there, which were kinda heavy. :(

Also, they should reconsider the amount of sugar they put on the sangria, the bottom of my cup was covered by it.

Besides that, the service is nice and the staff is enthusiastic, always playing some bells and interacting with the clients, which is nice! ❤️"

Seating is very limited, and it's common to stand while eating. It's more of a lively bar experience than a traditional sit-down restaurant.

Expect classic Spanish snacks like patatas bravas, croquetas, chicken wings, ham, cheese, and sometimes paella or meatballs.

Best tapas bars in Madrid

Great for budget-conscious travelers, this casual, no-frills cider house is one of the most popular tapas bars in Madrid’s LGBTQI-friendly Chueca district. For every drink order, you’ll get an overflowing plate of tapas, which can be a mix of ham and cheese, fried chicken wings, croquetas or patatas bravas (crispy-fried potato chunks served with a smoky paprika sauce and garlic aioli). This is one of the few diners in Madrid open all day, all week, until after midnight.

Spanish Tapas Restaurant Guide Madrid

For Spanish people, the quality of the tapas is as important as its quantity. The bars and taverns that become successful thanks to the Word to mouth are usually the places that serve big quantities of food with the drink. In Spain it´s known as “ordering a couple of drinks and dining”, meaning that the amount of free food they served with your drink was enough for you to dine.
