Reviews Summary

El Balneario - Baños del Carmen offers a stunning seaside location and historic charm, with many praising the delicious seafood, particularly the BBQ sea bass. However, some diners have experienced issues with service being slow or inattentive, and there are occasional complaints about the food quality not meeting expectations or discrepancies in billing.

"We went at 1230 staff were nice and let us wait in there until lunch is served at 1300. Not cheap but nice views in front of the sea where you can feel the splash. Service great and fresh food. Tried the malaga fish soup. Not the usual soup flavour that I imagine with a “ cream soup” but it turned out very nice and refreshing"

Vonnie Wan

"Came here 10 years ago for the first time. My favorite place I always have to go to when I'm in Malaga. Although the restaurant really needs some maintenance, the terrace outside is huge, the view over the sea is breathtaking. Some of the staff are friendly and some are not (Ossama was our very nice and friendly waiter). Loved the tapas (patatas bravas is different but oh so delicious 😋). And the sea bass from the BBQ was fantastic and yummy😍. This is not the place for a quick lunch. But if you have time like we did, enjoy the food, the view over the sea and the sun. We had a great time sitting there for 3,5 hours🥰🥰"

"Pricing not in accordance with the menu, so we were surprised when we paid 12€ instead of the 9€ we had expected. We came for drinks only, so can't judge the food. But the drinks were with 3 huge ice cubes. See picture. Come on guys...i didn't order ice cubes. However, a great place to sit with views"

5 Stunning Places to Watch the Sunset in Malaga You Won't Want to Miss

If you want to watch the sunset in Malaga from the beach itself, you can't get much better than Playa Baños del Carmen. It's a bit out of the way of the city center, but very easy to reach by bus (and a great place to spend a day, so if you're there already, be sure to stick around for the sunset!). Enjoy unspoiled views over the Mediterranean as the waves lap up onto the shore, or head to the nearby El Balneario restaurant (Calle Bolivia, 26), a classy yet inviting place where you can enjoy a drink or meal as the sun goes down.

The most romantic restaurants in Malaga

Somewhat of a landmark in the city, El Balneario is the only restaurant on beautiful Baños del Carmen beach; and the perfect place to gaze at stunning sunsets over the Costa del Sol with extraordinary views of the Mediterranean Sea and the city behind. The menu is defined by dishes that seek to find balance between the traditional and the avant garde while emanating the spirit of Malaga. There is, naturally, no shortage of espetos (sardine kebabs) and pescaíto frito (fried fish), two local dishes par excellence.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, by hopping in your car rental you can enjoy amazing views of the beach with the mountains in the background.
