Located close to Oasis Backpackers Hostel – a top choice for travellers visiting Málaga on a budget – and the beautiful Plaza de la Constitución, Mia Coffee Shop is a must for coffee aficionados. Its espressos and cappuccinos are among the best in Málaga and you can choose from a variety of different beans. Staff are often given to singing as they prepare your coffee, which you can pair with a slice of one of Mia’s tasty vegan cakes.

You would walk right past Mia Coffee House if it wasn’t for the bright yellow facade. Tucked away on a small square behind the Carmen Thyssen Museum, this family-owned coffee shop provides a welcome respite from a day of sightseeing. The coffee, sourced mainly from Spanish micro-roasters like Mountain Coffee, is excellent, and so are the homemade treats offered daily – think rosemary & lemon cake with olive oil, goat cheesecake, and dates tart with lemon cream.

The other Málaga coffee shop making waves on the list is Mía Coffee House – a true gem in the city’s vibrant coffee scene. Tucked away in a small square behind the Carmen Thyssen Museum, Mía Coffee House is renowned for its cozy ambiance and a menu featuring not only exceptional coffee but also a selection of delectable treats like the orange bizcocho, berries cake, and banana bread. What sets Mía apart is its commitment to diverse coffee experiences.

Mia Coffee House is another popular specialty coffee spot in the Old Town of Malaga where you can get high-quality coffee (one of the best in Malaga!) and some pastries. This time we didn’t get to sit there because there were only a few places to sit and all were occupied. We took coffee for takeaway and actually went to the nearby Astrid bakery for a piece of cake and enjoyed both of them while walking around the old town of Malaga.

Visitors and locals alike consistently rank Mia as one of the best coffee shops in Malaga. Whether it’s the darling vibes or the fact that the baristas really know their coffee, it’s hard to pinpoint what makes Mia the best cafe in Malaga. The coffee here is truly on point, and their pastries are just as great.

If you want a “proper” coffee, by which I suppose I mean a Workhouse/C.U.P. cup of coffee, Mia does the best coffee I found in Málaga. It’s essentially another hole in the wall, but the coffee is sublime, made with care and precision and served in attractive cups, sunshine-yellow to match the awning outside.

In no particular order, (1) Dulces Dreams is in a chilled out setting on Plaza de los Mártires Ciriaco y Paula and does a great cup of coffee in this beautiful micro square (2) Avokate on Calle Granada while I also enjoy (3) Mia Coffee Shop next door to Dulces Dreams.

No day is complete without a cup of black gold, which means tracking down good coffee is the top of my to-do list for any city. Most bars in Malaga will serve the typical burnt jet fuel that is most Spanish coffee.

Another one of the best places to eat in Málaga in the mornings is at the Mia Coffee Shop, a lovely little establishment in the Plaza de los Mártires, just a few minutes’ walks from the famous Museo Carmen Thyssen.

Mia Coffee – Recently relocated to a newer space in Soho, Mia Coffee is the best in Málaga. It offers an excellent selection of delicious homemade cakes.
