"One of those few restaurants I give five stars because all our experiences here were pleasant! Food, service, atmosphere all went well. We were served by a a very nice and so pleasant soft-spoken guy whom we truly appreciated. It was hard not to notice how nice he was. Unfortunately we didn't get his name.

"Incredible. Pinchos were stunning!
Wished I could have had one of everything they were that good.
As an Australian on the Camino, sadly, my Spanish is deplorable, but they still made me feel welcome and we got by. The vino was also outstanding.

Do not pass up an opportunity to partake here. You will not be disappointed."

Darryl Kerr

"Maybe the best. Delicious food, kind service, normal prices."

Six of the best: pintxos bars in Pamplona

In just a few short years, La Mandarra, the realm of hospitality magnate Jorge Goicoechea Lizarbe, has become one of the busiest bars in Pamplona. La Mandarra is a contemporary spin on the traditional Iberico-ham-bedecked tapas bar done in a galley-style with a swish black counter and walls festooned with modern art; guests propped up on stools devouring delectable pintxos crafted by chef Manu Palma and his team – staunch advocates of quality ingredients and what’s referred to as ‘0 Km products’ (produced, sold and consumed locally). Its pepper pintxo is legendary, sampled in between glugs of velvety Navarre red or ice-cold Ambar lager, but equally tasty are the creamy mushroom truffle skewers with poached eggs and caramelised onions; chorizo sautéed in cider with Iberian ham; and Ragués (cod loin on a bed of baked vegetables and potatoes).

In the heart of the old town, on Calle San Nicolás, you will find La Mandarra de la Ramos… a place to feel at home. The adventure of opening this place comes from the hand of Jorge Goicoechea, founder of Bar Donibane de San Juan, who after 20 years in the sector, decides to open an innovative place, but with a traditional essence, in the historic center of Pamplona.

Tapas in Pamplona 2025

They are right across from Baserriberri in San Nicolas St. It is easy to spot, they have many hams hanging from the ceiling. So as you can imagine, most of the tapas have Spanish ham, so vegans, please don’t come in, you will faint (LOL) They are well known thanks to their toasts. To me it is hard to choose one, because all of them are incredible.
