Reviews Summary

Bar El Convento is highly praised for its delicious and beautifully presented tapas, with many reviewers highlighting unique dishes like the mango-avocado-shrimp plate and artichokes. The quality-price ratio is considered excellent, and the local wine selection is impressive. While the intimate setting is charming, some patrons note that the restaurant can get very busy, leading to wait times. However, the friendly service and welcoming atmosphere generally make the experience worthwhile.

"Great tasty Tapas! Little one for 2€ and plates to share for 8-12€, like the fantastic mango-avocado-shrimp plate. The Restaurant was full and busy and therefore we had to wait quite long."

"Loved Bar El Converto! Had one of our favorite dishes in Spain at this restaurant - Tartar de aguacate y langostinos (avocado with shrimp and mango). Incredible presentation with amazing flavor. Also enjoyed the Alcachofas aliñadas (artichokes). Delicious artichokes in olive oil with olives and little bits of what tasted like bacon.

The woman who was our waitress or perhaps the manager was extremely friendly, giving us suggestions on what to order. She brought out a great red wine that was my favorite I’ve had in Spain - “A Pasos Roble 2019”, from Ronda.

We also got a small sweet wine after dinner drink that was fun to end the meal.

The location is a bit out of town but totally worth the walk. Will come here again the next time we are in Ronda."

"Nice restaurant hidden in the other side of the town. The scallop and prawn tapa, and the avocado tartar were simply stunning and delicious - even a bit too stunning as there was quite a lot ongoing. But nevertheless, the scallops were perfectly cooked and the avocado worked well with sweet onion and fruits. We had also snails, but they were snails and my friend likes them. They were really busy and apologized about it, but we were not bothered due to their extreme friendliness."

Tucked away within the residential streets of Barrio San Francisco, next to the old convent, is Bar El Convento: a favourite restaurant that's small in size, but BIG on flavour and presentation. We love the quirky interior, with its varied art, musical instruments, and the train that runs on its track around the ceiling whenever the bar reaches a certain financial goal for the evening. Their welcoming team will bring you incredibly reasonably-priced, tasty tapas presented with such artistic style you can hardly bear to break them apart.

A Taste of Ronda - some favourite tapas bars in the Andalusian town

Both ‘Bodega San Francisco’ y ‘el Convent’ serve fresh salads as well as vast array of typical Andalusian snacks such as little fried shrimp pancakes (tortitas de camarones). Almocabar, also of the square, offers more complex tapas and raciones using fine ingredients and a certain degree of flair.

At the top of the barrio opposite the convent, this wine bar is a bit different from the run-of-the-mill. Very wine bar style with high stools and a great range of wines from Ronda and beyond. Delicious tapas to accompany your copa de vino.
