Bar Nestor No reservations so plan early. Opening times 12pm and 7pm. Queue starts to form well before the opening (about an hour before). This is to secure tortilla slices which guarantees a table. There is about 15/16 tortilla slices. Once at the booth, they took out names and our food pre-orders ( we ordered every thing- Padron Peppers, Tortilla, Ensalada Tomate and bread.) Reviews Summary

Bar Nestor is a legendary spot celebrated for its simple yet outstanding dishes, particularly its renowned tortilla española and txuleta steak. While the unique queuing system can be challenging, the exceptional quality of the food and the warm hospitality make the wait undeniably worthwhile for many visitors. The intimate atmosphere adds to the overall memorable experience.

"We lined up at 19h45 and they took a list of names around 20h15 to take "reservations" - the system isn't super clear but it's effective. Earlier you arrive, earlier you eat. We came back around 21h(after a pintos crawl) and ordered the tomatoes, pimentos and steak. Service was superb, gave us drinks whilst we waited in the street everything was tasty and worth the wait. This place is 100% worth the hype!"

Caitlin Niltiac

"Incredible experience. The food really does justify the wait.

In peak season, for the 12 o'clock serving, arrive at 11 to get your name on the list. Be prepared to queue. The tortilla only has 16 portions but it's worth it. Again for the 7pm serving, arrive at 6 and take a drink from the bar opposite (makes the wait easier)

Don't miss out on the steak either! Cooked to perfection 👌

The staff couldn't be more friendly, this place really does live up to the hype"

Tom Lyon

"It’s definitely worth queuing for. We queued from around 10.20am for the 11.30am tortilla window and to book for steak. We were fourth in the queue and had a table for 12.45pm. It gets quite busy!
The tortilla was absolutely incredible. Easily the best I’ve ever had. We also went for the steak, tomatoes and peppers of course. Everything was so flavoursome and juicy. It’s tiny inside and very quaint. You all sit together so it’s very social.
I’d highly recommend visiting, definitely worth the wait."

You’ll need to get on the list to be guaranteed a spot at lunch or dinner, so show up before opening and a waiter will give you an estimated wait time. Where to Get Pintxos at San Sebastian's Best at Bars and Restaurants

In the north of Spain, the tortilla de patata should be suitably mocosa, or runny. One of the best tortilla de patatas in Spain is at Bar Nestor, a diminutive spot in the city’s Parte Vieja, or Old Town. But to get your taste buds on a slice, you’re going to have to do a bit more than just fork over three euros.

Cheap eats in San Sebastian

There are seven, three Michelin-starred restaurants in San Sebastian, so on seeing this tiny restaurant which features just ONE table, you might wonder how it can possibly be rated the second-best in the city. Then you go, and you find out… If you’d like to book the single table, it’s worth attempting (at lunchtime, at least) – arriving half an hour before opening at 12.30 and using your best Spanish to ask if the table’s available (or your worst Spanish and lots of waving) might work. But if it doesn’t, don’t worry, because the food will cushion you on a cloud of joy and you won’t even notice you’re standing up.

I didn't manage to try it cos I was alone and that MOFO is MASSIVE (they'll come round to show you the size of the slab of meat before you nod and place your order), but my friends tried it and swear it's the best steak they've had in her LIFE.

San Sebastián is full of crisp-shelled, rich, golden tortillas, but Bar Néstor’s is widely held to be the best in the city.
