"My partner and I wanted to try the tasting menu from at least one of the restaurants in San Sebastián.
Bodegón Alejandro had great priced tasting menu and on top we went for wine pairing option. The staff were super friendly, welcoming and gave great knowledge about the wines they were serving. We came with no expectation and we did not even know it was a Michelin Star restaurant not until the next day. We had the absolutely great experience and food was so worth it."

"The food was excellent, we had the spider crab and the Txuleta with fries, a green salad and peppers. Affordable for the quality. We went with the our two kids 9 and 10’and everyone loved it. The service was slow but it was busy and it seemed like maybe only one waiter was taking the orders but everyone was very friendly. The atmosphere is unique, being downstairs. I would dine here again."

"We had the lunch tasting menu. Overall, food was quite good. I really enjoyed the crab dish that has the white foam on top, anchovy and the tuna fillet. French toast with cheese ice cream was pretty good too. The rest were honestly quite normal, nothing extraordinary but not shitty.
Service was good too though! Would still recommend going!
Gave a 3 for atmosphere mostly because it was quite stuffy, given its summer and aircon is not great in there."

Natàlia, head of the dining-room, and Jordi, chef and son of the owner of El Cau del Pescador (a classic seafood restaurant in Sant Feliu), met while working in the Basque Country, specifically in the Bodegón Alejandro, which belongs to the parents of Martín Berasategui, and El Munto, another classic tavern in the old town in San Sebastián. In 2013, back in the Costa Brava, they wanted to make their own interpretation of everything they'd learned, combining it with traditional Catalan cuisine. And they were lucky enough to find the ideal venue, a place in the centre that had previously been a restaurant-tavern and still had a long oak bar.

Hiding in the basement of a timber building in the heart of the Parte Vieja, this restaurant—where world-renowned chef Martín Berasategui cut his teeth—toes the line between traditional and contemporary Basque cuisine. A recent menu included slow-roasted piquillo peppers, tiny de lágrima peas topped with a poached egg and shaved black trufffles, and brûléed torrijas (Spanish "French" toast).

This is a bit like a dungeon, but in a good and glowing way. Its proximity to Mercado de la Bretxa made it the bolthole of choice for traders, a place to tuck in to cheap fish and txakoli (sparkling dry white wine), pork and cider after work. Now very much upgraded, chef Inaxio Valverde still makes good use of the market’s fresh, local and seasonal produce.
