"This is hands down the best place to experience authentic Canarian cuisine in Santa Cruz, especially for those looking for a gluten-free options. They offer a wide variety of traditional dishes without any risk of contamination, making it a perfect choice for celiacs and gluten-sensitive diners.

A special mention goes to Winder, our waiter, who was incredibly kind and patient. He took the time to explain the menu in detail and reassured us about the safety of the gluten-free options. His recommendations of typical island dishes were spot on, and he even guided us on the proper way to enjoy them.

The whole dining experience was exceptional—from the warm atmosphere to the delicious flavors of Tenerife. To top it all off, they treated us to a “chupito” of Ronmiel de Canarias, a delightful local honey rum.

"La Bodeguita Canaria, located in the heart of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is a charming and authentic spot that proudly showcases the rich culinary heritage of the Canary Islands. From the moment you step in, you’re welcomed by a warm, traditional atmosphere and the sense that you’re about to enjoy something truly local.

On my visit, I was graciously attended by Beatriz, whose kindness and knowledge of the menu made the experience all the more enjoyable. I started with tomates aliñados, bursting with freshness and seasoned with that perfect balance of salt, oil, and vinegar—a simple dish that truly sings when done right. Then came the papas arrugadas con mojo, and I must say: this was the best mojo I’ve had on the island. Perfectly textured, bold in flavor, and utterly addictive.

To accompany the meal, I chose a glass of Flor de Chasna—a local wine I used to enjoy, though I must admit that its quality seems to have declined somewhat in recent years. It lacked the crispness and balance I remembered.

When it came time for dessert, I was presented with several options: tarta de piña, Príncipe Andrés, polvito, and bienmesabe. Unfortunately, since I’m not a fan of pineapple and wasn’t familiar with the rest, I decided to skip dessert altogether. A bit of a missed opportunity, perhaps—but next time, I’ll be more adventurous.

Overall, La Bodeguita Canaria is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience true Canarian cuisine in a friendly and authentic setting. A special place where traditional flavors still shine with sincerity."
