La Flor, a quirky cafe decorated with art made from recycled materials, has a varied menu of Galician and international food. If you want to try out the former, go for a Galician tosta, which is bread baked in a wooden stove topped with c hicharrones, melted cheese, salt flakes, and paprika. For something a little different, the Tandoori burger – Indian-style range chicken with red onions, lettuce, tomato, and mango chutney – should hit the spot.

I love going to La Flor, mainly for its eccentric interior décor: think of a hipster coffeehouse crossed with a Cracker Barrel and you’ll get a general idea for how this cozy place looks. Prints and knick-knacks cover all square inches of wallspace and an old dryer drum hangs from the ceiling as a repurposed lampshade. The dim lighting and trendy music make this a nice place to curl up with a good book on a rainy afternoon—but by dinner time, this place is packed to the gills.

Su carta está llena de vistosos platos, divertidas infusiones y tentadores cócteles con nombres de escritoras como Dores Tembras, Chus Pato o la mismísima Rosalía. Aunque de día puede parecer un bar más de la ciudad, de noche se convierte en toda una odisea de gente entrando y saliendo.

While exploring Santiago’s neighborhoods beyond the old town, I discovered La Flor, a traditional Galician restaurant where the food was great without the tourist prices. Their Galician beef is spectacular, and they serve one of the best tortilla dishes I’ve had in all of Galicia. What makes this place special is how they showcase fresh and delicious local produce while maintaining the soul of traditional dishes.

La Flor is a gastro cafe located in Casas Reais, right on the path of the Camino Francés as it enters Santiago’s Old Town. La Flor is a hip but relaxed place with vintage decor and homemade food that mixes Galician and international influences. Next to La Flor and run by the same owner, you will find A Cocotte for fantastic artisan pizzas with interesting Galician toppings and combinations.

This colorful café-cum-wine bar is decked with art and knickknacks, the music is always on point and the food options are an added bonus. Enjoy salads, toasts and cakes while tapping away on your laptop, and pair your internet with a nice wine or a creamy coffee. Trendy and quirky, La Flor is undoubtedly one of the best cafés with free wifi in Santiago de Compostela.

Home to the compostelan “modern”, a place frequented by bohemians and artists where you might even run into a famous actor. It’s a very versatile spot, perfect for enjoying a cup of tea or coffee with a good book, or for having a few beers with tapas or toasts.
