"You must visit this bar. They serve wine in bowls for under 2€ with a tapa. There is a covered enclosed in ancient stone patio that you can have dinner. The service was great and full of locals."

"I LOVE THIS PLACE! It’s not fancy, but it’s 100% gastronomical. The menu is a great mix of traditional Spanish foods with other gourmet plates. We had the most delicious fig and tomato salad, that was on the specials list. It had locals and foreigners alike. The waiter was super friendly, jovial, and very knowledgeable about the wines. He was happy to help and chat. We really enjoyed our time here. One of the best restaurants I’ve visited in Spain for an everyday meal. I recommend."

Favorite Dining Spots in Santiago
Maria Castaña (Rua da Raiña, 19) a rustic Galician restaurant in the heart of the historic center of Santiago, is always packed and it can be tricky to get a table at peak times. But if you happen to go in the early evening before 8:30 or 9 pm, you should be able to get a table without issue. I almost invariably order their chipirones a Maria Castaña – baby squid cooked in tomatoes, peppers and onions and their zamburiñas, grilled scallops on the shell.
A city with magic! | Erasmus experience Santiago de Compostela
There are a lot of great restaurants in the old town: "María Castaña", "O celme dos caracoles" if you are looking for something more legant and "San Jaime" if you are going with your parents, where you can eat amazing seafood and percebes!. In the new town I recommend "El Castelao" and "Raices" at Vigo's Square, that makes the best "bocadillos" in town.

Restaurante San Jaime - Santiago de Compostela
A good rule of thumb to find the best food in a new city is to find the place most enjoyed by locals. Maria Castaña is that place in Santiago. Closed to the Cathedra, this restaurant will offer you the best octopus prunes and fish on the market, together with a very professional service.
More than the Pilgrimage... Things to do: Santiago de Compostela
Restaurante María Castaña is a more upscale option for classic Galician cuisine. It has a beautiful patio and offers interesting twists on some traditional regional foods. If you are looking for a great meal and are not on a tight budget, then this is your place.
2 days in Santiago de Compostela
The perfect plan would be as follows: a portion of seafood washed down with wine in a mug at O gato negro, xoubiñas at María Castaña, pig’s ear at Orella, squid fried in batter at A Coruña, clams at Mesón 42.
