Reviews Summary
Antigua Taberna de Las Escobas is celebrated for its historic ambiance and its highly-praised seafood paella, often described as the best by patrons. While many commend the friendly and attentive service, some diners have found the paella to be underwhelming, with mixed reviews on freshness and seasoning. The restaurant's prime location near the Seville Cathedral adds to its appeal for tourists and locals alike.
"We went here for desert only. Once of the best Irish coffee ever. The desert I ordered had Licorice syrup and it tasted like medicine (not to my liking but if you like Licorice, I highly recommend it). The brownie was delicious."

"A beautiful old building. Small like most restaurants in Seville. Service friendly but not so attentive. Only had one glass of wine as couldn’t get waiters attention throughout meal for a top up. We had fried seafood platter and vegan paella , both perfectly edible but seafood platter wasn’t as fresh as other places we visited during our stay. Batter not as good either.
Nothing special so unless you are stuck, find somewhere else."

"During my recent visit to Seville, I stumbled upon a charming restaurant just a stone's throw away from the majestic Seville Cathedral. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a perfect blend of traditional Spanish decor and modern touches.
But the highlight of my dining experience was undoubtedly the seafood paella. It was, without a doubt, the best I have ever tasted. The rice was cooked to perfection, infused with rich flavors from the fresh seafood that adorned the dish. Shrimp, mussels, clams, and squid – each bite was a delightful explosion of taste, perfectly complemented by the subtle saffron aroma.
The service was impeccable, with friendly staff who made me feel welcome and ensured I had everything I needed. The location, just minutes from the cathedral, made it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy a meal after a day of sightseeing.
If you find yourself in Seville, make sure to visit this gem of a restaurant for an unforgettable culinary experience. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this place will leave you with a satisfied palate and wonderful memories"

Seville Restaurants
Las Escobas: Having arrived hungry on the AVE train from Valencia, I chose Las Escobas for lunch upon arrival in Seville. I had a great gazpacho and seafood paella that was so much better than the one I had the day before in Valencia at the beach. It has an old-world feel as it was established in 1386.

When Cervantes ate here in the late 16th century, he called Las Escobas a taberna antigua, since it had already been around since 1386. That makes it (probably) the oldest eating establishment in Europe. Las Escobas has been in the hands of its current owners for more than 40 years.…
