Reviews Summary

Bar Dos de Mayo is celebrated for its authentic Andalusian tapas and comfortable ambiance, with many praising the delicious food and friendly staff. While the tapas portions can be small, the variety and quality are consistently high, making it a great value. Some diners have noted occasional inconsistencies in service and presentation, but many consider it a top spot for local dining.

"Found this via a host recommendation
. On a corner setting in a plaza, plenty seats both outside and in. We were advised to arrive to line up for opening at 8pm and were lucky enough to get a table immediately. By 8.20 people were queuing.
Choice in menu was excellent, portion sizes very reasonable, delicious food, especially the solomillo, the bombon Pato and the tostidas de anchoas. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend."

"The food was lovely, especially the duck pate. It was melt in mouth and delicious. But what really made my experience even better was the lovely waiter who served me and made sure I was enjoying the meal and always ready to take my order. He was very patient and polite despite my lack of Spanish. I think his name was Pepe? But he was the guy in the photo, please extend a special thank you to him again on my behalf! :)"

Stef K

"Great selection of dishes. They did medi (medium) sized portions and full portions. Because I wanted to try a few things I went for all medi size. I almost ordered 5 dishes, but the waiter recommended 4 as there was only two of us, and I'm glad we listened to him! We went at peak time, so there was a 15/20min wait to be seated, you could see the waiters were very busy but didn't compromise on professional service. The dishes were all delicious as pictured, everything was perfectly cooked."

Seville In 10 Delicious Dishes

A traditional cold soup originally hailing from the city of Córdoba in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia, salmorejo is a dish made using tomatoes, water, garlic and breadcrumbs, which is then topped with cubes of serrano ham and a hard-boiled egg. It’s ideal for a light lunch, especially during Seville’s hot summer months, when temperatures in the city frequently hit 45C (113F). To try this classic Spanish dish, head to Bodega Dos de Mayo, a smart tapas bar in the city centre.

Seville travel guide - Where to eat (part 1) - THE best Tapas bars!

Second on my list is Dos de Mayo – a grand establishment featured in Michelin guide, serving traditional Andalusian-style tapas in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. It is very large for Spanish standard (160m2 indoor and a huge terrace) with such an extensive menu that, for a moment there, I thought it was a tourist trap. But after a few rounds of tapas from bacalao (cod), mini octopus (pulpo), gambas, solomillo al whiskey (pork loin in whiskey sauce – a “must-try de Sevilla”), some vegetable and those-I-cannot-recall-anymore dishes, shared with another guest from the hostel, I was happy as a clam.

In the quiet neighborhood of San Lorenzo, Bodega Dos de Mayo offers traditional tapas and an Andalusian menu. With an extensive wine list and outdoor seating, it's just a short walk from downtown and is a perfect choice for an inexpensive meal off the beaten path. The Best Tapas Bars In Seville, Spain

As many other tapas bars in Seville, Dos de Mayo has two areas: an outside terrace with tables for proper dining and a bar where you can get your tapas. Located on a lively square, this is definitely a good choice to sit outside in good weather, although you can only do that if you order ‘raciones’. No matter, many of the raciones are just larger versions of their tapas so as long as you are not alone you can share!

The Best Places To Eat In Seville

Dos de Mayo is my favorite place to go for very traditional Spanish food. The thing that sets this place apart from the rest is its lively atmosphere: the bartenders are loud and constantly cracking jokes, and if you make an impression, they'll remember your name every time you come back. There are no waiters here; the bartenders call your name when your food is ready to be picked up.
