What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bar Sal Gorda is praised for its innovative and delicious take on traditional tapas, with many highlighting the unique oxtail donut and creative presentations. Diners also appreciate the warm and attentive service, and the lively atmosphere, especially on the outdoor terrace. Some minor criticisms include occasional saltiness in dishes and higher prices compared to traditional tapas bars.
"We came here for a quick bite and loved every bite! The steak tartar was delicious and the ox tail donut was out of this world. The ceviche was different & creamier than what we have had back home but still flavourful. They were unfortunately out of the croquettes. Tapas are a bit pricier than what you find at a traditional tapa place but we didn’t mind with the food we got as it’s comparable back home. Service was quick & nice."

"A truly surprising restaurant experience. The oxtail donut and the cold soup are must-tries. The risotto was also delicious, and the fried cod was presented in a very unique way. Everything was excellent. Many thanks to Ive for the warm and enthusiastic service."

"If you’re looking for something a bit different, Bar Sal Gordo offers a fresh, modern take on traditional tapas that really stands out. Every dish we tried was excellent — the beef tartar was rich and flavorful, the tacos were bold and balanced, and the cauliflower couscous with salmon was light, creative, and perfectly prepared. Even the olives served at the start were full of flavor.
What stood out just as much as the taste was the presentation. Every dish looked fantastic — not just ours, but everything we saw coming out of the kitchen. This place has real style and attention to detail.
It’s a local spot with a Spanish-only menu, which adds to the charm and authenticity — something I truly appreciate. Prices are a bit higher than typical tapas bars, but the quality absolutely justifies it.
A big thanks to our waitress for her warm, energetic, and professional service. A memorable and genuinely special dining experience."
A Blu.

A cosy, informal place improbably located on a pedestrianised street full of shoe shops, with a small outside seating area and two floors of dining tables inside, this new tapas mecca has some of the friendliest waiting staff in the city. The menu is highly seasonal, with fruits and vegetables (mushrooms in autumn, figs in late summer) creating original, colourful combinations for daily specials: cherry salmorejo, seabass ceviche with lemon and passion fruit. Year-round winners include tender tartar de atun (tuna tartare) and endive, beetroot, orange, walnut and cheese salad.
