As I stayed 3 nights in Galle, I realised that this part of Sri Lanka is only for luxury travellers. The hotels, the restaurants, the cafes, the shops, they are all overpriced with some people only catering to Europeans. Especially the food, it was way too pricey but luckily as I left the fort area, I found this cute little restaurant with reasonably priced menu and tons of authentic food to try....

Everything we spent in a day in Galle Fort, Sri Lanka🇱🇰 Started off the day with two coffees from Barista, then for lunch we decided to just get some food from the supermarket lol. Went out for a couple of beers and ended the day at the dumpling cafe. Including the £20 spent on accommodation, our day cost is a total of 23,300LKR (£61)! The best thing about Galle fort is walking the streets and see...

Reviews Summary

Diners rave about Lucky Fort Restaurant for its authentic Sri Lankan home cooking, particularly the signature 10-curry dish which offers incredible variety and flavor. The cozy, family-run atmosphere and warm service contribute to a memorable experience. While some note it's not 'restaurant-level' ambiance, the exceptional value and taste of the food make it a must-visit.

"This is the place to try a huge variety of authentic Sri Lankan home cooking. 10 different curries of various vegetables, lentils and chicken made for a fun adventure.
This restaurant is an extension of a house with real Sri Lankans living there, so don’t expect restaurant-level service and ambience. But do expect genuine and delicious home cooking with a large variety to sample. I paid a grand total of LKR 2000. Incredible value!"

Tina Dear

"If you never had rice and curry before, this should be your first stop in Galle. They serve 10 different curry with rice. We couldn’t finish it all. They were all yummy."

Zeynep Coşkun

"We had such a lovely experience here – easily the best rice and curry we had during our 4 weeks in Sri Lanka!
We ordered the 10 different curries, and every single one was absolutely delicious. Each dish was full of flavor, perfectly spiced, and clearly made with love. The location is also super cute and cozy, which made the whole experience even better.
On top of that, the service was friendly and attentive. We truly loved everything about this place and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable meal in Sri Lanka"

We were recommended by our Hotel to pay a visit to this restaurant, for an authentic touch to the local Sri Lankan community and its food culture…Situated at the Galle Fort, is located this restaurant, with a little difficulty in locating this place and you will have to keep asking the local people on ur walk through the way…The food options make up big time for all the time you spend locating this place.. Offered with a huge varieties for amazing Rice and Curry experience (specializing in Srilankan Cuisine), this place is operated and owned by a local ancient family of Srilanka. The topping is its placement right in between the garden, and is surrounded by green flora everywhere in the ancient set up of the house.

One Day in Galle Fort, Sri Lanka? Complete Guide

Under Dutch rule, about 500 families lived here and you could find public buildings, administration centers, military facilities, warehouses and churches within the walls. The fort as you can see it today features well-preserved colonial architecture (of course heavily influenced by the Portugese and the Dutch who built the town in the style of their homeland) and cobblestone streets in a grid-layout and has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
