What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bar La Lune garners praise for its outstanding food quality and exceptional staff, often described as a must-visit for wine lovers. However, some diners find the portions to be too small for the price, leading to a feeling of being unsatisfied or that the value for money is low. Service can also be slow at times, with extended waits between dishes, which detracts from the overall experience for some guests.
"If you want to eat like a 1 star Michelin star restaurant (even 2), for a fraction of the money? This is your place.
Amazing wine list, amazing g service and the food was just terrific.
New favorite place"

"All in all not worth the hype.
Great food, but a bit tasteless.
There is so little flavor in things, I would call it Swedified.
Respect for the chefs! Making their work with that minimal space, having customers sitting at your prep counter. I just wish you could go a bit wilder.
One option for wines without added sulfites. A bit little. Very few open wines, if you don’t want a whole bottle.
Drafty autumn with permanently open doors to the outside didn’t help to create a cost vibe.
Staff was a bit snappy and mainly focused on catching up with the regulars."

"the food was really nice, but it took waaay too long we were so frustrated because we were hungry the whole dinner that took like 2.5 hours.. even at other higher end restaurants, yes food takes a bit of time in between dishes but not this long. went in quite hungry but it was 3 dishes in 2 hours (2 tiny starters and 1 small main) then when we politely inquired the waiter about when our next dish would come, we were responded with.. not sure the word. he was working really hard, but it seemed understaffed i guess bc a big group of ~14 people came in after us. and he was running around but even the couple that came in around the same time as us were getting up and walking around.. maybe it was the big group that made it seem understaffed. we just said okay, waited, and when our 4th dish came out after 2 hours and ~15 mins minutes, we just quickly ate the dish then came out to look for another restaurant because we were still hungry. we were originally gonna order dessert or more food depending after our first placement of orders but it took just too long. also the food was nice but the portions were too small. that wasn’t even a big issue, it was just that we were still hungry, wouldn’t mind paying a higher price if we had good service and reasonable times between the food. but went in hungry, spent 1300 kr (which again wouldn’t mind spending if we got at least somewhat satiated), came out hungry.
disappointing bc we were really looking forward to trying this place after recommendations by friends."

Natural wines in Gothenburg
The wine bar and restaurant Bar La Lune, which over time has become more of a restaurant with seated guests, is an absolute must if you want to experience natural wine in combination with really good food, in an environment that breathes decadence and Paris. Behind the restaurant, which only has table reservations, stands the renowned sommelier Oskar Ahlvin, who has also opened the sister bar Angeli right next door. The idea behind the wine bar Angeli, which instead keeps its tables unbooked, is based on the original idea with Bar La Lune, that is a place to drop by, sit at the bar and have a bite and enjoy really good wines without having to reserve a table.

Where to Eat in Gothenburg
The wine, the food, the vibe – Bar La Lune is a little piece of Paris in Sweden. This natural wine bar was one of our favorite hangouts in Gothenburg, a place we’d be regulars at if we lived in the city. They serve so many of our favorite wines (Gut Oggau and Serragghia, to name a couple), delectable small plates, and have a fun vibe.
