After just a few sips, A Bar Called Gemma became our favorite cocktail bar in Stockholm. The venue is relaxed and laidback, the bartenders are friendly, and the handcrafted cocktails are creative and complex. We especially loved the signature cocktail, the Gemma – a light and sparkling Gin Sour style of cocktail, with gin, sake, pistachio, ginger, and citrus.

Three bars in one, Tjoget (The score) is a big place with multiple zones and offerings: dining room, cocktail bar, wine bodega and beer café. Tjoget's has a reputation for being ranked as the best bar in Stockholm. Be warned, it's a schlep from the other bars on this list.

Order their Renegade of Funk served in a smoking monkey head which includes mango dark rum, ginger and spices, 180 SEK or $19 USD. A bit pricey but absolutely delicious!. Stureplan is the city’s upscale VIP district, where Stockholm’s fashion crowd comes to play.

We also stopped in at A Bar Called Gemma – kind of early evening. If I were going to have a home base or my “Cheers” in Stockholm, it would be this bar. The atmosphere is contemporary/hip but also comfortable and laid back.

From the outside, this cozy, modest bar may not seem like much, but once you go inside, you'll be in cocktail heaven. Johan Evers, an award-winning bartender, built, owns, and operates Gemma. Are you still waiting outside?
