Reviews Summary

Sturehof is celebrated for its outstanding seafood, fresh ingredients, and a vibrant, sophisticated atmosphere that makes it a Stockholm institution. Diners rave about the classic dishes like Toast Skagen and the impeccable service, likening it to Michelin-starred establishments. However, some find the taste a bit too salty or the portions small for the price.

"I had the pleasure of dining here, very traditional Swedish restaurant. I had a starter, toast skagen with prawns, very unique, i loved it! I also tried the meatballs—and they absolutely lived up to the hype. The meatballs were tender and flavorful, with the creamy mashed potatoes, lingonberries and crunchy pickled cucumbers. It’s a simple dish, but so comforting. A must-try if you want an authentic taste of Sweden! Sarika did a great job by serving this dishes and explaining me, as i am a tourist here. Well done, you are very professional and also you have a great smile, which is important in your job. thank you! Sebastian, thank you too, you are very nice too!"

Sabina Gulamaliyeva

"Popular restaurant in the city center that serves classic Swedish cuisine. I was able to book a table the day of, and the restaurant is big so there were tables for walk-in too!

Fish cake was really delicious. Completely exceeded my expectations! My server was nice as well!"

Vicki

"Sturehof is my go-to restaurant whenever I’m in Stockholm.
The service is outstanding, comparable to what you’d expect in a Michelin starred restaurant. The food, especially the seafood, is among the best I’ve ever had and always incredibly fresh. Their wine list is also excellent.

I highly recommend trying all the oysters, but the real highlight for me was the Swedish crayfish so large and flavorful that it felt like eating lobster, only better.

It’s a place I recommend every time, though it is on the pricier side."

This massive restaurant with two huge bars is a complete social, architectural, and dining experience that surrounds you with wood paneling, leather chairs and sofas, and distinctive lighting fixtures. In the elegant dining room, fine Swedish cuisine is served, but the scene is as much social as culinary. There's a bar directly facing Stureplan, where you can sit on a summer night and watch Stockholmers gather at the nearby Svampen (the mushroom-like concrete structure that has been the city's meeting point for years).

Stockholm: 5 places to take your taste buds

A Stockholm institution with a culinary history that spans over 100 years resides in Stureplan a public square in Stockholm. The classic brasserie with white linen tablecloths and uniformed waiters serves French bistro classics and a few Swedish ones, but seafood and shellfish is their speciality. Sturehof is the place to be seen for late-night drinking, we enjoyed an early dinner and feasted on grilled bread with creamed chanterelles and poached lightly salted cod with prawns, horseradish, poached egg and browned butter hollandaise.

We enjoyed a fancy weekend seafood brunch here in the enclosed heated patio, watching the bustle of the square outside on a cold winter day. They make different pickled herring dishes here- you can get a sampler platter to try a few flavors (our favorite was the gin and juniper). Fried mackerel croquettes and oysters rounded out our light meal, but they do have plenty of full-on entree options as well.
