I went to the restaurant Sushi Sho in Stockholm (Sweden) recently — and wow, what an experience! It is located in Vasastan, quite close to Odenplan. It is a very small restaurant, with a purpose to offer all guests a seat around the counter — so you can see the chefs prepare the food right in front of you. There is a set menu with mainly seafood being served. I personally love seafood, so for me, ...

Reviews Summary

Sushi Sho offers an exceptional omakase experience, praised for its exquisite sushi creations using high-quality, local seafood and its attentive, multilingual staff. While most diners rave about the artistry and unique flavors, particularly the signature soy-cured egg, some mention that certain dishes might be an acquired taste. Portion sizes are generally satisfying, though a few guests have noted feeling still hungry.

"I went for a meal with my partner and it was the best meal I have ever had.

It is worth saying, I am not really the Michelin restaurant person, I have not eaten at lots of fancy restaurants, in fact this meal was the first time I ate Octopus so if you want the opinion of a fine dining fiend than that is not mine.

But my two cents was that the food was absolutely excellent, their signature soy egg was the best thing I have ever had and getting to try fresh wasabi was a real treat.

I found the staff to be helpful, to give good descriptions of the food and were ready to answer any questions.

The simple thing is that this is a meal I will remember for a long time, which for me makes it worth every penny and even then with all the food and drinks we had, I thought it was worth what we paid and more!"

"Honestly one the of best Japanese sushi experiences I have had in the northern hemisphere. The food and experience was done incredibly well and everything was to the highest quality of standards. Each dish was prepared beautifully and came with explanations about the sourcing of the ingredients, the style of dish, and the recommended way of consuming it. I saw another review mention that these types of explanations would not be given if you only spoke English; but that could not be farther from the truth - my party and I had delightful conversations and explanations given to us in perfect English, French and Japanese. That being said, the staff are also extremely knowledgeable about not only the courses they are serving but also the production, palettes, and sourcing of the ingredients and alcohols they serve/use and were happy to appeal to both our appetites and curiosity. Again the food was impeccable and I would also recommend the Sake pairings alongside the menu as they have been chosen extremely well and complement multiple courses.

Just a side note to westerners who come from cultures where a sweet course is typical after a meal - this restaurant is authentically Japanese and desserts after meals are not a common experience as Japan has more set times such as tea for sweet desserts so don’t be dissatisfied when they’re are no desserts."
