What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Restaurant Stucki - Tanja Grandits is celebrated for its extraordinary nine-course 'Aroma Menu,' featuring visually stunning and exquisitely flavored dishes. The service is consistently praised as impeccable, with knowledgeable and attentive staff. While many find the ambiance refined and welcoming, some diners have noted that the wine pairing can be out of sync and the aperitif pricing is surprisingly high for the experience. Some guests have also expressed disappointment with specific dishes not meeting the high expectations set by its two Michelin stars and GaultMillau points.
"The culinary journey that was the nine course menu was pure bliss. Each dish presented was a masterpiece, both visually stunning and bursting with exquisite flavors. Chef Tanja Grandits's innovative approach to cuisine shines through in every bite, showcasing a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.
The service was impeccable, with a knowledgeable and attentive staff who guided me through the menu with expertise and warmth. The attention to detail and genuine passion for hospitality were evident throughout the entire meal, making me feel truly valued as a guest.
The ambiance of the restaurant was equally impressive, with a refined yet welcoming atmosphere.
It is a true gem in Basel's culinary scene, and I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience. I left Stucki feeling not only satisfied but also inspired by the culinary artistry and hospitality displayed by Chef Tanja and her team."

"To be honest i was a little disappointed. First of all the good points.
-if you ask questions they are dutifully answered and even though they tried to accommodate your requests as good as possible.
-the food was mostly very very good. A few dishes were not fitting into the concept somehow but overall superb quality of cooking
-when mentioned we had some books to sign we were even shown the patisserie.
-the armosphere was amazing.
The things which didn’t go so well:
-the wine pairing was completely out of synch with dinner. They poured the next wine before we even finished the last one.
-the amouse bouche was somehow in a weird order and the one we tried first was overwhelming every taste.
-the first starter was absolutely not fitting.
-the apero was extraordinary expensive. This is something which bothers me generally. They never tell you how much an apero will cost even though it is important and 35 per glass is outrageous if you only get it on the bill.
-we paid 1200 chf for two people and for that it wasn’t good enough to be honest. Most expensive star experience so far and i think other ones were much better."

"We had lunch here and it was a feast. Every dish was very pretty yet never exaggerated. No artificial show elements. It is all about taste and textures. The cutlery and plating are even downright simple, nothing special, but you don‘t eat out to see knives and forks. Tanja greeted us at our table which was very nice. The atmosphere is pleasant, no music! Most guests seem to be locals having a regular lunch on a weekday, apparently the neighborhood is rich."

Chef Tanja Grandits gives her guests a delightful culinary experience in a refined—but not uptight—setting, using a cuisine style that the German-born chef calls "aroma kitchen." Contrasting flavors, colors, and textures shine through in fanciful creations of fish, seafood, and Swiss meats combined with unusual touches such as wasabi mousse or green tea guacamole, which can be sampled in the nine-course "Aroma Menu" (also available in a vegetarian version), or in the more affordable three- to five-course lunchtime menus. The restaurant is in the residential neighborhood of Bruderholz; take tram No. 15 or 16 from Marktplatz, get off at Jakobsberg, and walk about 15 minutes.
A culinary getaway in Basel, Switzerland's fine-dining capital
I am dining in the garden of two-Michelin-starred restaurant Stucki in Basel, Switzerland’s third city. It is summer and the air is spiked with the scent of lavender; the only sound apart from the clink of crystal and contralto hymn of chatter from surrounding tables is the wasps zipping between the red bottlebrush plants.
