What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests consistently praise the hotel's unbeatable central location in Bern's Old Town and the friendly, helpful staff. The historic charm and excellent breakfast are often highlighted as significant positives. However, some reviewers note that rooms and bathrooms can be small, and noise from the street can be an issue at times.
"The hotel is located in a nice spot of Old Town Bern, giving anyone who stays a variety of spots to explore. The situation with the bathroom some people speak of is unique. As the centuries passed, someone had to create a way to install modern plumbing and amenities. What you'll experience is how they put together those conveniences. Breakfast was good and the reception staff was very helpful."

"The location of the hotel was perfect—walking distance within all the main attractions in Bern’s Old Town. The rooms were simple and clean, and had all you needed, especially if you’re here for only a couple of days like we were. We were disappointed to learn that our room did not, in fact, have a balcony, as was advertised in the photos that accompany our room reservation details. The balcony and its view overlooking the old part of town was what really sold us on booking this hotel. After checking into our room and seeing that we only had a window with a partial view of the street, I reviewed the room details in my reservation confirmation and noticed that a balcony is not specifically mentioned, but it does say “city views” which can be misleading considering a photo of the balcony was included in our reservation. Not sure who handles the photos and advertising for this property, but I would suggest updating the photos and description of each room so that each is accurately represented when people book reservations. After reading some other reviews, I noticed we were not the only ones who experienced this. Again, not the biggest deal considering we spent most of our time outside exploring Bern and its surrounding areas. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh bread, meats and cheeses, and the staff were very friendly. I definitely want to stay here again when I return, (but this time hopefully in the room with a balcony 😄). Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bern for a few days."

"I was here with my family from the States and this place was pretty good but way overpriced. The rooms were clean and comfy but the bathrooms were a bit weird. We did not like how the bathroom was in a box in the corner. It made the toilet flush very loud. It was also super tiny and hard for more than one person to enter at the same time, but very clean. The beds were comfortable and the staff was wonderful! We were able to leave our stuff behind the counter while our room was getting prepared. They also gave us a recommendation for a place to park which was nice. However, there is no parking at the hotel. The breakfast and drinks were pretty good but not amazing. Overall, I would come back here again and recommend this place to others."
