The newest restaurant from the luxury Four Seasons Hotel is this Japanese-fusion affair from the Nobu stable, and it’s a welcome addition to a country that isn’t exactly awash with quality Japanese food. Drawing on Nikkei cuisine, a selection of beautifully prepared sashimi, tuna tartar and tempura gives way to larger fusion dishes such as lobster and foie gras kadaifi with terriyaki and truffle, and a gorgeous black cod miso zuke, followed by a chocolate bento box with matcha ice cream. It’s an intimate, cosy kind of place, so in winter it’s best to book early to secure one of the few tables indoors.

Another of my favourite restaurants was Izumi, the Japanese-fusion Nikkei restaurant at Four Seasons Geneva. The restaurant occupies a beautiful indoor space but in the warmer months, guests can take to the rooftop and admire a panoramic view of the city. As we booked in late, we were sat at the counter at first watching the chefs at work but as the restaurant cleared out, we were moved to a terrace side table.

The Izumi is on the sixth floor of one of the most prestigious five-star establishments. This restaurant has become a must in Japanese fusion cuisine. What is less well known is that Izumi is also one of the best rooftops where to have a drink in Geneva.

Getting a little fancier, Izumi is a Nikkei restaurant- Peruvian Japanese fusion. It is pricey, but the food is fantastic. I’d recommend going in Summer when the weather’s good, as you get to eat on the rooftop, with one of the best views of Geneva.
