Reviews Summary

Restaurant Les Armures is celebrated for its authentic Swiss cuisine, particularly its renowned cheese fondue and raclette, served within a charming, historic chalet-style setting. While many praise the delicious food, attentive service, and cozy ambiance, some reviews mention slow service during peak hours and slightly burnt croutons on occasion. Despite minor critiques, it's considered a must-visit for a traditional Geneva dining experience.

"A jewel of a restaurant in the city centre, amazingly attentive staff, we did not have a reservation and they managed to secure us a table in 5 minutes. The terrace looked nice but the interior was spectacularly decorated, cozy, homely and very well kept. The atmosphere was also very lively but not loud, everyone was well behaved and gracious. The food was delicious, we had the fondue with bacon and mushrooms which added a nice flavour. Wide variety of wines and also of craft beers, the restrooms were throughouly clean and they had good WiFi coverage."

Miguel Andrei Cesardo Navarrete

"Inside the old town of Geneva this lovely, posh, restaurant has excellent food and excellent service.
Inside it is very elegant.
It gets very busy so beware, I was lucky to get a table.
They have a variety of food on the menu,
My chicken in honey sauce and lettuce with small chunks of cheese and croutons was divine. And my dessert homemade fruit tart with cream was heaven.
The staff were very professional and especially Thiolery who served me was excellent in his professionalism and was very welcoming.
Expensive, But, If you want quality you have to pay for it."

David Kirby

"What a delightful fondue restaurant nestled in the charming heart of Geneva's old town! A dear friend introduced me to this gem, and I must say, it truly lived up to all the wonderful things I had heard about it. It was my very first experience with fondue, and oh my, it was absolutely delicious! The local wine complemented the meal beautifully as well. The service was impressively swift and attentive. I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely spot to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!"

A robust Swiss menu has made this Vieille Ville institution a magnet for local street sweepers, foreign heads of state, and everyone in between. Before tucking into a fondue or raclette (melted cheese served with small potatoes in their skins, pickled pearl onions, and gherkins), order a starter of air-dried meat cut paper thin—a specialty of the canton of Grisons. Other choices include Schübling (sausage) or veal strips in cream sauce: both come with sinfully delicious Rösti, a buttery cake of grated potatoes.

Where to eat and drink in Geneva right now

Located between the 12th-century Tavel House and the Old Arsenal, the oldest cafe in Geneva is still going strong for a reason. Think vacherin and Gruyère cheese fondue in cherry red pots, bubbling and steaming from every charming candlelit table inside what feels like a wood-carved ski chalet from the 17th century. Come in from the cold and get elbow-deep into the best fondue you’ve likely ever eaten.

Rooms and suites at Les Armures have a laidback, unforced elegance, blending the rustic touch of exposed stonework and old beams with luxurious fabrics. It's the restaurant that really stands out though: occupying one of the oldest period rooms in Geneva and separated into chalet-style zones plus a terrace, it offers authentic and hearty local specialities such as grilled Swiss sausage and two-cheese (Vacherin and Gruyère) fondues accompanied by a platter of Swiss cold cuts.

Les Armures, one of the favourites of my watch buddies when we come visiting during the Salon International de Haut Horologie (SIHH).
