Rathaus Brauerei

Adjoining Lucerne’s town hall is its very own restaurant and brewery, Rathaus Brauerei, where you can enjoy the staples of alpine cuisine in a convivial, pub-like setting. Highlights of the menu include the Älplermagronen mit Apfelmus (a macaroni cheese pasta dish served with applesauce), the Luzerner Käsekuchen (a savory cheese cake), and rabbit fillet with oyster mushrooms. Naturally, all food at the Rathaus Brauerei goes well with Rathaus Natürtrub and Rathaus Bock, the two in-house beers.

If you have any stomach left, the Rathaus Brauerei makes its own pilsner and witbier, which you can enjoy in the outdoor beer garden overlooking the river.

The Rathaus Brauerei is found in the beautiful 17 th century town hall building located right on the River Reuss. Brewing their own beer since 1998, the Rathaus is the perfect spot to stop for a relaxing afternoon drink where you can sit outside and take in the stunning views of the river and Chapel Bridge. They serve a delicious house beer as well as a special beer for each season.

Combined brewery and restaurant, Rathaus Brauerei is an establishment committed to the enjoyment and satisfaction of its customers. All the beer is brewed on site and pairs wonderfully with a mix of Swiss and German cuisine. Try their specialty sausages and cold platters and end the meal on a sweet note with homemade waffles for dessert.

Located on the arcade floor of the historic town hall, “Rathaus Brauerei” serves amazing traditional cuisines. This stone-walled dining space features a unique design and has a splendid outdoor dining area offering beautiful lake views. When it comes to the menu, the Rathaus Güggeli is the star and it has got a separate fan base.

Rathaus Brauerei (Lucerne) – even though we had just left Germany, Ronnie was still craving German food so we checked out this restaurant which is also a brewery. The meal was fantastic – we started with a pretzel and cheese, then I had the fish which was very good. Cool ambiance with lots of outdoor seating as well.

The Rathaus Brauerei is also a good choice, although I just checked their latest menu and seems like the Älplermagronen is no longer on the menu - a shame, because it was really good and better value. You could double check. I think Pfistern along the river nearby also has Älplermagronen on the menu.

Switzerland might not be known for its beer but the Rathausbrauerei impresses with its self-brewed tipple which uses Pilatus spring water stemming from the oldest complex of springs in Lucerne. The zesty compositions are accompanied by sausage specialities made to local recipes by Lucerne butchers.

Plenty of seating outside but I went right into the bar, got a seat at the highchair, and ordered one of the Brauerei’s own onsite brews, a Weissbier, not my favourite kind of drink but luckily enough this one was fresh and tasty straight from the tap and tasted so good.

At the end of a rewarding day, we stopped for craft beer and a snack at the Rathaus Brauerei, peacefully next to the cobalt lake people watching, the resident swans oblivious to the fairytale beauty of their city of lights and all it has to offer.

Right by the Town Hall, is its very own restaurant and brewery, serving up authentic Alpine cuisine along with house-made beers. This is one of the best restaurants in Lucerne for the atmosphere too.

Wonderful echoing cross-vaulted beerhall below the Rathaus, where young enthusiastic drinkers come to sample a range of self-brewed beers, all of which are pretty powerful.

The Rathaus Brauerei, just across the river, is a wonderful place for fresh drafts of beer, some seasonal and others "classic.
