What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ristorante Barbatti is praised for its elegant atmosphere and attentive service, offering a taste of authentic Italian cuisine in Lucerne's old town. While many rave about the delicious pasta and wine selection, some reviews mention that certain dishes, like side vegetables or roasted potatoes, can be hit or miss. Service is generally fast-paced, which some appreciate for efficiency but others find to be a bit too quick.
"After battling the post-Carnival crowd in Luzern (who apparently ate everything in sight :)), Restaurant Barbatti came to the rescue! Sure, the menu looked a bit thinned out, but the waiter saved the day by suggesting alternatives. Every single bite was spot-on delicious. Barbatti has this wonderfully formal vibe without feeling stuffy, and the staff is genuinely caring. I wholeheartedly recommend it."

"4.5 stars overall. Barbatti is a classy Italian restaurant with wonderful service, elegant surroundings, and good food. My husband enjoyed his branzino on wild rice. My lamb chops were tender and juicy, but the side of roasted potatoes was tough and flavorless, which detracted from my meal. Our waiter Andrea was friendly and professional, and he made good wine suggestions to go with our meal. We love the Bindella group restaurants and will continue to frequent them."

Dining Out In Lucerne Is Multicultural With Grand Vistas To Boot
Since Switzerland has its German, French and Italian cantons, you can expect excellent example of their cuisines, not least Italian, which I found at Barbatti (Töpferstrasse 10, +41 41 410 13 41), one of the cheeriest spots in town, with a large dining room decorated with antique furniture, crystal chandeliers and busts of what I assume are ancient Romans. The place is packed at lunch and dinner and the staff is very fast paced, with a menu just large enough for the kitchen to maintain consistency at peak hours. For appetizers there are carpaccios, one of beef (24CHF), the other of octopus (23CHF), and a zuppa di pesce (15CHF).

For something more international: When we feel a bit nostalgic for Italy, we book a dinner at Barbatti, an Italian restaurant located just in the city centre and of course Italian approved!. Prefer Chinese food?. Then enjoy a dinner at the Jialu National Luzern, just inside the huge Hotel National (Haldenstrasse 4), along the lake promenade.

The Best Restaurants in Canton Lucerne
In the heart of Lucerne's old town, traditional Italian dining culture is celebrated at Barbatti. In the cosy room decorated with lots of art, homemade pasta, carpaccio di polpo or the tender carré di agnello - the house speciality - taste twice as good.
