For a very relaxed après ski experience, head to the Brown Cow Pub. It succeeds at feeling like a pub and will usually have sports on the television, so you can hang out there for hours (if you get a table, that is). The Brown Cow has a no reservations policy, so it is tricky to find a table, but there are usually a few seats open at the bar and, if you hang around for a bit, a group will eventually leave.

The Brown Cow Pub is hands-down one of the best pubs in Zermatt and it’s part of the Unique Hotel Post complex. It’s situated in the heart of Zermatt, so it’s the perfect place to visit in the evening if you’re staying in the central area of the village. We like Gee’s, the Broken Bar Disco, Pink Live Music Bar, Papa Caesar Bar (with a small balcony overlooking the street) and the Brown Cow Pub, all conveniently located in the Post Hotel, halfway up the main street. There’s also a hip club called Vernisage and the Pollux T-Bar disco. Little Bar is a great, well, little bar.

The Brown Cow at street level is an all day café / bar, always lively. Papa Caesar’s, open from 16:00, is a stylish lounge bar with leather sofas, great selection of creative and classic cocktails, wines beers and a cigar humidifer. Close your eyes and you could well be in Havana!.

Maybe not exactly the kind of food you're looking for, but The Brown Cow pub had good food , reasonably priced (for Zermatt). Also there's an Italian restaurant across the street from it, I think it was Osteria Bella Italia which was very good, a little pricier than the pub though.

For hunger pangs, head for the Brown Cow at street level, a rustic room with 19th-century farm implements hanging from the ceiling. The menu includes hamburgers, goulash soup, sandwiches, and salads.

This fantastic little restaurant and bar is the perfect spot for a great lunch or a low-key dinner. The service was wonderful, and the beer was cold!. I really can’t ask for more!

The Brown Cow is also a popular bar, situated on the main street, and then there is Elsie’s Bar right in front of the church, smaller but good for a few drinks after skiing.

At the more affordable end try the spaghetti factory for Italian, the Brown Cow for hamburgers (...or there is in fact a McDonalds...) or the Weisshorn for Mexican.

In a town where a main dish at a respectable restaurant is rarely below CHF40 (about $40 US), Brown Cow Pub is a great value for money.

Money is better spent at the lower end of the market like a 'Stinky Burger' at the Brown Cow Bar in the Unique Hotel Post complex!
