Reviews Summary

Haus Hiltl is celebrated as the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant, offering an expansive and diverse buffet with flavors from around the globe. Diners praise the incredible variety, freshness, and unique pay-by-weight system. While some find the prices high, the overall experience, including the historical significance and friendly service, is deemed worth it for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

"If you’re visiting Zurich, or even just living here and trying to remember a good place to eat out, COME HERE!! This is an absolute must. I am so happy I followed the advice I got to come here.

I had an absolutely amazing meal here. Everything was delicious. I got a phenomenal risotto with asparagus (which is in season right now), the Korean cauliflower fried rice, and the coupe Denmark for dessert (basically an ice cream sundae with graham cracker crumbles).

When I say I can’t stop dreaming about this meal, I mean it. I might even go back here while on this visit just to round out the trip it was so good. Everything was fresh and filling. The atmosphere is adorable. The staff are super kind."

Hannah Uría LaBovick

"I can’t say enough great things about this restaurant! Let’s start with a single con : the price is pretty darn high; for being a tourist I can imagine it’s tough for most since most countries don’t have a high wage such as Switzerland. We went here on a date visiting Zürich for the first time and wow it was mouth watering and delicious! Personally I’m not a vegetarian but my girlfriend is and I always support her and we have vegetarian days, this meal was full of incredible flavors and actually made me feel pretty decently well. I could have easily eaten a second full plate though for 40 dollars per person per plate(without drinks) I think I’ll leave it as a delicacy. They weight it and I do love this system since it ensures the buffet is being used properly and no food is being wasted. The staff is INCREDIBLE! The cook came out a few times to fill the buffet and he was full of charisma. My girlfriend was super happy to have him compliment her. Our cashier / server was a Filipino man and he was very polite, professional and with a big smile! For the experience it was worth it, it was romantic and delightful"

"Beautiful restaurant. Delicious buffet of vegetable-focused dishes (inspired by several ethicities) that you pay for by weight. Such a nice variety and so good."
