"The flagship store for a variety of delicious Taiwanese and notable Tainan dishes. While they're mainly known for their Dan Zai noodles, they offer great vegetables, monkfish soup, and a lot of other great options.
Service is fast and the inside feels classic. If you need a sit-down restaurant, this is the best place to be!"

"Wouldn't Return.
Nice environment with a lot of history, with the family definitely cashing in on a funky pot giving off funky flavours.
Main noodle - had a strange funk to it, like the alleyways of the streets. Wasn't a fan.
Deep fried oysters - some also had an old oil funk. Crispy.
Lu Rou - meh and barely gave any meat. It was like mince meat.
Vegetables - probably the highlight. Fresh, garlicky but not cheap at all.
Overall, bit of a miss. Be wary of anything with thick fancy menus. Cash only."

"The food thing about this restaurant is that they don't just use danzai noodles, they also offer some of the other popular dishes in Tainan such as the milk fish. The quality of the food is pretty good.
We came just 25 minutes before closing time of 1420 with last order at 1400. The food came out pretty fast though and quality was also still good.
Can visit for tourists who only have one stomach and want to try different Tainan popular food in one location."

48 Hours In... Tainan 台南, Taiwan's Second City
One of our favourite places we ate on our entire trip to Taiwan, was Du Hsiao Yueh (度小月). Open since 1895 on Zhongzheng Street, the name translates as ‘The Slack Season’ referencing the off-season when fishermen wouldn’t be able to go out to sea during the time between the Tombsweeping Festival and Mid Autumn Festival, owing to rough seas. At a loss of income, a member of the Hong family sold noodles which he carried around the streets using shoulder poles in order to make a living during this time.
