What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Gan Dan Cafe offers a unique, nostalgic atmosphere and excellent coffee, particularly the nitrogen-infused options. While many praise the cozy vibe and friendly service, some reviews mention long waits and unavailable menu items. Despite occasional service hiccups, the quality of the coffee and the charming ambiance make it a popular spot for regulars and visitors alike.
"Gan Dan is my favorite cafe in Tainan. They make amazing lattes here. The people who own the cafe are very kind and sweet. The vibe here is special. I love to sit near the window and daydream, while sipping amazing coffee and staring out the window at the little temple nearby. This cafe is a lovely, wonderful place."

"They seated us in comfortable seats and gave us plenty of water, which was lucky as we had
to wait a very long time to get our order and it arrived one at a time with 10 minute intervals between. Half the menu was not available, and the cheesecake was served still frozen. All in all a bit of a disappointment. The place has a nice vibe but we expected better from a place with their good reputation and star rating."
Heather Clarke
"I accidentally came by this cafe and I was really surprised by how comfortable the environment was. I also appreciated the how kind and hospitable the service was as well. This cafe has a very old school vintage aesthetic. I think this is a big part of the Tainan hipster culture. Seems like a very cool and chill place to hangout. Reminds me a little of some Hong Kong cafes. The coffee is also exceptionally good."

Where To Eat And Drink In Tainan
I could hang out at this cosy little retro cafe all day long. As with all the best Tainan cafes, Gandan (as I believe it translates to in English) is tucked away on the backstreets. Its setting, by a little courtyard and tiny Kailung Temple, heightens its charming appeal.
