Reviews Summary
Fong Da Coffee is lauded for its authentic, old-school atmosphere and potent, traditionally brewed coffee, a true taste of Taipei's past. While the coffee and nostalgic ambiance are major draws, some patrons note that the service can be brusque and the food, while decent, may be considered pricey for its quality.
"Definitely a visit here. The cuppocino is good. Didn't order the breakfast set as the coffee/tea that comes with it can't be changed. So decided to order the ham and eggs sandwich instead. It's four of them I think like total about four slices?
Seems like the breakfast set is very good too.
Pay by cash.
Wait in line if dine in. Interesting place.
Recommend a visit."

"Had a nice breakfast with my partner here, and tried out their sandwiches and coffee. We missed the brunch timing by a bit, so if you want to save a bit please remember to arrive before 11am.
The portions are generous, and the eggs were really good! The cafe is really aromatic with the coffee grinding and almost everyone has a cuppa in front of them.
I’d say the food was ok, kinda homely, and the atmosphere was unrivalled. However, the food can be a tad pricey here. It’s over $500 for 2 sets of food and coffee.
They have other food available such as pastries at the counter near the front, not sure if you can buy and have them in the cafe, but you can check with the staff!"

"Top-notch, old-school coffee shop, for connesieurs. Open since the 1950s, packed with locals.
Coffee beans roasted on site with lots of choices and reasonable prices. Brisk but friendly service. A menu with English but not much spoken. It helps to know what you want before the busy server arrives.
If you want a cookie, buy separately from the front of the shop. They were OK but a bit dry and sugary for our taste.
I loved the Blue Mountain and my wife enjoyed the standard ice-coffee with milk and whipped cream.
It's so good to see these places surviving and thriving next to the bland, brand names. Long may it continue."

Also a great place to buy whole bean coffee, and they sell coffee cups and saucers with their name and logo.

We stumbled on Fong Da by accident, mainly because of the striking decor, resembling something you'd see in a 1950s movie.
