Reviews Summary

Shi Yun Crispy Salted Fried Chicken is a beloved spot for its flavorful and crispy fried chicken, with a wide variety of other fried snacks to choose from. Diners praise the quick service and the option to add garlic and chili for extra taste. While the food is highly recommended, some find the dining space cramped and the chicken can sometimes be a bit salty for sensitive palates.

"No need for a long review. This place truly speaks for itself. It is hands down one of the best spots to get your popcorn chicken around Ximen.

The staff are attentive to special requests and incredibly fast with their service. While we were staying nearby, we found ourselves coming back almost daily.

If you’re sensitive to spice, just ask for the “原味” (original flavour). They’ll prepare it just right. Definitely a must-try if you’re in the area."

"After seeing so many blogs and recommendations speaking about this branch I was frankly disappointed, maybe it’s the choice I made in chicken?

I ordered the chicken steak since Taiwan is known for their huge chicken steaks but got cold feet knowing that my piece was going to be a precooked steak that was going to be fried again.

Still hopeful based on reviews and reputation of the place, I got my order which definitely matched the size of the big chicken steaks I was expecting. However as I thought, the chicken was pretty dry. There was some areas which were slightly tender but overall the chicken just tasted like a refried piece of chicken which it was, the size as aforementioned was good but the quality just wasn’t there compared to a freshly fried chicken.

Like I said I might have been cause I chose the steak, would have liked to try the regular chicken pieces which at have been better but sadly was a poor experience for me."

"Crispy and tasty (might be too salty for others). Highly recommend!

They have an order sheet with multiple languages. Just tick the one you want, tick dine in (if applicable) and go to the counter and pay. They ask if you want spicy and garlic. Definitely loved the garlic one, declined on the spicy.

It took them 10 minutes to cook everything, served in one plate. There's a beer available, just ask for it."

What to Eat at Ximending in Taipei: Top 21 Ximending food

I know I already have two fried chicken places on my Ximdending food list, but you can never get enough fried chicken, right?. I walked by Shi Yun Crispy Salted Fried Chicken ( 師園鹽酥雞), and knew I had to try something there because I really like the retro vibe of this restaurant. So I studied their English menu, ordered fried chicken and tempura (fish cake), and waited a few minutes.
