What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Yong Kang Sliced Noodles is a highly acclaimed eatery, celebrated for its authentic Taiwanese beef noodle soup and perfectly textured knife-cut noodles. Diners rave about the rich, flavorful broth and tender beef, as well as the unique noodle consistency. While the atmosphere can be bustling, leading to shared tables, the efficient service and delicious food make it a must-visit for noodle enthusiasts.
"Recommend by a friend. A delicious lunch (with AC 🤭).
I ordered the sour and spicy soup with knife cut noodles (thicker and chewier noodles) [酸辣湯加刀削麵] and my companion ate the beef in tomato soup. We added seaweed, tofu noodles (?), and cold tofu with a preserved egg as our side dishes.
Ordering was pretty straightforward: mark the order sheet with what you want and hand it in to the front. If you want sides (additional cost), grab it and bring it to your table (they will add it onto your bill). You pay after you eat!"

"Great place to get taiwanese beef noodle soup and pork dumpling soup. Menu is only in Chinese, but with the help of Google translate we were just fine. Lots of sides you can take, buffet-style. Would highly recommend!"

"I had a Spicy and sour noodle soup (sliced noodles, small $100) and the drinks were in the fridge near the front door. It cost $15 for each small drink and $25 for each large drink. FYI, you give the menu to the staff in person and don’t forget to tell the number of your table.
The sliced noodles had amazing texture with the sour and spicy soup. The broth was authentic and kinda thick as it should be. The other things on the soup like shredded tofu and eggs also tasted great.
Lastly, the efficiency was high and the staff were friendly and agile. The price was also quite low. The only shortcoming was that you need to eat with other people in a single table because the restaurant has always been bustling with people.
Overall it’s a 9.5 out of 10!"

Taipei’s best beef noodles: 8 places to go
Founded in 1963, this small, family-run, two-level restaurant has a reputation as one of the city’s best places for beef noodle soup. Such is Yong Kang’s status that it annually sits out the festival competition for Taipei’s best beef noodles, preferring to pass the baton to upcoming restaurants – or so it claims. Australian beef is used for the main cuts, but the DNA of the spicy red broth can be traced to Sichuan.
The 80 Best Restaurants in Taipei (by food type!)
For excellent sliced noodles, or knife-cut noodles (刀削麵 or daoxiao mian) in Taipei, I recommend Yong Kang Sliced Noodles (永康刀削麵), another noodle shop in the Yong Kang Street area. The noodles are sliced in house – you can watch at the front when they’re doing it. You can get them in beef noodle soup, tomato soup, hot and sour soup, or in sesame sauce (vegetarian friendly).
