My son had Pad See Ew with plenty of chicken pieces – his dish was also large and very tasty.

A very quickly noticeable feature of Ao Nang is that it probably boasts more Italian Restaurants than Palermo. Ao Nang Seafood (I know, the most imaginative of names) is the first restaurant in the street and the only one that’s easily visible from the road. In fact it took us until halfway through our holiday to realise there was anything else there!. We tucked into a whole sea bass steamed in a cornucopia of Thai herbs and special fried rice.
Where to eat in and around Ao Nang
The range goes from basic wooden tables to the frou-frou lace and chandeliers of The Longtail Boat. As the restaurants are located over the water and offer spectacular sea views, the best tables fill up early – around sunset – so go early if this is important to you.
