Coffee Old City

With a location close to a large park, and to the Ayutthaya Historical Park, it’s both the perfect place to fuel up before you begin your adventures or to refuel and discuss you exploration of the city. Unpretentious and homely, it’s a cozy, comfy place to eat your usual Thai favourites, such as pad Thai, as well as a few Western home comforts too. The coffee is good, the waitresses friendly and the smaller touches, such as a flower garnish on the plate, typify the attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile that the wait staff and chefs had.

With its proximity to a huge park and the Ayutthaya Historical Park, it’s the ideal spot for fueling up before your activities or refuelling and discussing your city exploration. It’s a pleasant, comfortable spot to enjoy your traditional Thai favourites, such as pad Thai, as well as a few Western home comforts. The coffee is excellent, the waitresses are pleasant, and small touches like a flower garnish on the plate demonstrate the wait staff and chefs’ attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile.

Although Ayutthaya is small, it’s packed with great little eateries and restaurants if you wanted a sit-down meal or a taste of the local coffee. If you find yourself in need of a refreshingly cool smoothie or a cheap bite after trekking around Wat Phra Mahathat, then just across the road from the ruins is Coffee Old City. The menu boasts a wide selection of typical Thai food such as fried rice, pad thai and spicy soups like tom yum (or tom yam).

Coffee Old City is a classic with vintage style to spare that also serves up a mean pad thai. Busaba offers more modern feels, and Hunsa Coffee’s latte is good — but their mango soda with golden pearls is better. Those aiming for zero waste should head for Cafe Trifecta, where they serve heady cold brew drinks in glass beakers and use only metal straws.

Just opposite the temple where the most famous classic tree hugs the Buddha head in Dachengfu, the locals basically know that some of their staff also go to drink coffee. The price is very close to the people, the taste is not expensive, and the taste is compared to some famous coffee shops such as Starbucks. It is also better than nothing.

Enjoy the signature tom yum fried rice with curry by visiting a cafe like Coffee Old City. If you ever visit this cafe in the morning, you would be able to enjoy the authentic Chilled Thai tea. Variety of vegan, vegetarian, Thai, and Asian dishes are available here for brunch, lunch, and breakfast.

Because my stomach was still feeling inflamed thanks to that spicy noodle soup from Phuket, we were super selective on where to eat and only stuck with TripAdvisor reviews (I know I know, bad way to explore food). We ate at Coffee Old City. The service is excellent and the food was pretty good.

A cafe-restaurant located near Wat Mahathat, in a very central location. The place offers a refreshing and cool break from the trip in the sun, alongside a beautiful view of the temple. The place is open every day, but only during the opening hours of the temple (closed in the evening).

The historical park or the Old City should top your list ofthings to do in Ayutthaya. If you skip it, you don’t do Ayutthaya right!. The 715 acre of land is dotted with over 400 temples (wat in Thai) and palaces sitting on manicured grass lawns with big shady trees.

Chikul Road Phanakon Si Ayutthaya Let’s be very clear: this is the best place in Ayutthaya to have breakfast. Start your day with fresh fruit shakes, great eggs, and freshly baked bread.

We ate quite a few times in Coffee Old City, which was practically just outside our guest house. Good varied menu, friendly staff and reasonable prices.
