What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Baan Restaurant offers an authentic taste of Thai family recipes, praised for its delicious food and homey service. While many commend the flavorful dishes and warm hospitality, some find the portion sizes lacking for the price and the ambiance uncomfortable or too noisy. Despite mixed reviews on value, the quality of ingredients and traditional preparation shine through for many patrons.
"I originally planned to dine here, but on the way while walking over, there were just too many delicious and tempting street foods. By the time I arrived, I was already quite full. I asked if it would be possible to just have dessert—expecting to be turned down—but one of the staff, who seemed to be the manager, smiled and said, “Of course.” I enjoyed a delicious dessert, and even though I had been stuffed, I gradually felt more comfortable and was able to enjoy a cocktail. The staff’s warm smile and excellent English made the experience even better. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience."

"Came here because of the many Michelin awards, but left disappointed. The restaurant was completely empty on a Friday night.
The food, while good, was definitely not worth the price as the portion sizes were lacking. While the service was good, there is better food with similar ambience available in Bangkok for half the price"
Rachel
"Excellent service that is only matched by the delicious food we had! Good portions too. Ordered and ate too much but worth the calories!"

‘Ton’ Tassanakajohn is one of the hottest young chefs in Asia right now with two of the restaurants he created with his brother ‘Tam’ – Le Du and Nasura – winning accolades from both Michelin and Asia’s 50 Best list. Ton’s cuisine is bold, contemporary Thai, but rather than heading to their gourmet guidebook addresses, reserve a table at their more homely, under-the-radar Baan. Here the brothers propose comforting home cooking of heritage family recipes, using high-quality local ingredients, including halal beef and lamb raised by a Muslim community of farmers in the Pak Chong region.

Chef Thitid Tassanakajohn (of the one Michelin-star Le Du) retreats from the modernist culinary techniques he learned in New York in favor of homey, everyday Thai meals. This restaurant serves local style Thai family dishes, just as the name of the restaurants says, but all using high quality ingredients which are for the most part local and produced sustainably. The prices are not cheap, but the quality, and care of the flavor, is fantastic. I really liked the massaman kae toon (มัสมั่นแกะตุ๋น), massaman with lamb, and braised beef green curry.
