Also on the main drag near the mosque sits the open kitchen and dining counter at Boat Noodle Ao Nang. The namesake dish, called kuay thiao ruea in Thai, features tender beef with rice noodles and morning glory stalks in a dark brown broth flavoured by the juice that drips from the roasting meat. The cooks also do quality pad Thai with prawn along with hoy tort (pan-fried oyster omelette).

(Seriously I thought it was impossible to get it wrong in Thailand but it turns out it’s not – too much sauce and not enough substance kills it.) After scouring Foursquare for decent reviews we took a tuk tuk to Boat Noodle Aonang Restaurant the next night and were not disappointed. Amazing curry, fresh fruit, cold beer and good service = win.

The Blue Mango on the way to Noppara Thara is a mongrel option serving Swedish, Italian and Thai fare. It also has a surprisingly good wine list. Many Swedish families holiday at Ao Nang and this restaurant is run very much with them in mind since it has a separate play area and an extensive kid’s menu.

We were really craving for some boat noodle today and stumbled across this restaurant on google maps. Dont be mistaken by the name of the restaurant, their boat noodles arent the only thing great about this place!. they sell a wide variety of types of food but we only ate a select few.
