Reviews Summary

This Vietnamese sandwich shop is highly praised for its authentic flavors, generous portions, and fair prices. While many rave about the delicious banh mi and unique fried chicken sandwich, some find the latter to be overrated and not traditional. The quality of ingredients and the satisfying size make it a worthwhile experience, though expect to wait, especially during peak times.

"Rating: 5/5 Stars

Banh Banh Pun Pai Sandwich is an absolute gem in Pai. I went for the fried mushroom banh mi with extra egg, while my girlfriend chose the fried tofu with mushroom and cheddar. These sandwiches didn’t just hit the spot; they built a cozy little house there, put up fairy lights, and invited us to stay forever.

The 20-minute wait? Worth every single second. Watching them craft these sandwiches feels like witnessing a culinary masterpiece in the making. And the taste? Pure magic. Crispy bread, fresh toppings, and flavors so perfectly balanced they made us question how we ever settled for anything less.

The staff? Incredible. They ask every customer two of the most important questions in life: Do you like coriander? and Do you want chili sauce?—an essential step to ensuring sandwich perfection.

As for portion size, it’s definitely satisfying and filling enough to leave most people happy—though if you’re particularly hungry (or a guy with a big appetite), you might still be dreaming of a second round.

We loved it so much that we’re already planning to go back tomorrow. If you’re in Pai and haven’t been here yet, stop whatever you’re doing and go. Your taste buds will thank you, your stomach will almost thank you, and you might just find your new happy place."

"this is just deep fried chicken. on the road such a portion costs 10 baht. the most common meat. inside the atmosphere where you can't do anything, and a look from under the forehead. there is always a queue, it is not clear what they spend their extra profits on, even a broken Ganesha is standing inside. I recommend fixing it. after that I will correct the rating. and now stay away from this place."

"Got the salad version with grilled chicken (and feta! No extra charge!) and it was delicious. The best part is they give a very generous portion of chicken so you’re definitely getting your moneys worth. The tofu and tempeh options look fantastic too!!

I came here twice, during the night it was a 15 min wait but in the afternoon it was 5 mins. The seating area is very small but it does the job. Great spot for a meal!"

Located on Walking Street, Banh Banh Pun Pai serves a fried chicken sandwich which isn’t even close to an authentic banh mi but is a whole new invention in itself. Prepare to be turned away a few times by the lady who owns it. She often tells you to come back in 1hr, or that she’s stopped serving for a few hours to catch up.

They specialize in Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwiches, and they are phenomenal. Like actually amazing. We tried this on the last day which is for the best because we would have gone back every day if we had tried it earlier.
