Een ander favoriet restaurant in Rotterdam, op het Deliplein in Katendrecht om precies te zijn, is De Matroos en het Meisje. De Matroos is een hoog kwalitatief restaurant waar creatieve gerechten worden gepresenteerd. Het typerend Hollandse restaurant, met een muur vol Delftsblauwe illustraties en verwassen keukendoeken als servetten, heeft een hoog no-nonsense gehalte.

Het huiskamerrestaurant is bekend om het Delftsblauwe behang met Rotterdamse illustraties en de gedekte tafels met rood/wit-geblokte kleedjes. De chefs verrassen je iedere gang met een nieuw gerecht, want je hoeft hier niet zelf van de menukaart te kiezen. Ook de sommelier legt je in de watten met bijpassende wijnen.

Mijn favoriete restaurant op Katendrecht is zonder twijfel De Matroos en het Meisje. Hier wordt in een niet-alledaags interieur zo goed gekookt dat je er zeker nog eens naar teruggaat. Hier schuif je aan voor een wisselend drie- tot zesgangenmenu met wijnarrangement.

Another hidden gem and not a place that is frequented often by tourists. On my visit, on a Tuesday night, the place was heaving with locals and after eating there I can understand why. Visit here for luxury dining complemented by a wine-paired for each dish served.
