What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Café Bartine is celebrated for its delightful European-style ambiance and innovative dishes, particularly its signature Turkish eggs and exceptional pastries. While many praise the fresh, high-quality ingredients and friendly service, some find the interior a bit cramped and the coffee could be warmer or stronger.
"Love this spot! A cozy place with a warm, lively yet comfortable atmosphere. The menu is simple - mainly breakfast or all-day brunch items as well as pastries. But the food quality is good. I ordered the Turkish Eggs and enjoyed them thoroughly.
The coffee could be stronger for my taste but I’m nitpicking. Good, friendly service also. A great place for a quick coffee or casual bite to eat!"

"The three of us chose this place for breakfast — we’d been wanting to come for a while!
Luckily, we managed to find a table inside, towards the back. However, the interior is small and the tables are quite cramped, so I wouldn’t say it’s the most comfortable setting. It might be better if you can find a spot outside on a nice day.
One of us ordered the avocado on sourdough, another had the Turkish eggs, and I went for the mushrooms on brioche. Everyone was really happy with their food — everything was truly delicious. The combination of the mushrooms with the butterbean purée and eggs… absolutely unforgettable. I’ll definitely be coming back 😍"

"Bartine is always a great choice. The best cappuccino, excellent service, a great selection of food, and a casual atmosphere that’s perfect for what you’re looking for in a brunch. The bread is truly unique. I just wish they had more dishes, as that would mean more chances to try their delicious food. One thing to improve: I’d love the cappuccino to be served hotter, since with cold milk it’s just not the same."

Where to find the best breakfast and brunch in the Hague by a resident
Bartine now has two locations in the Hague where they serve up their delicious pastries: one near Centraal and one in the Zeeheldenkwartier (more for takeaway). Both are a great choice for fans of a more Scandavianian-style breakfast with a bun (their cardamon buns are delicious) and a coffee. Their main cafe is rather small and crowded on weekends, but extra cozy with the wide terrace in summer.
