We had a steak with fries and a rabbit stew. Also I would recommend the starters, you should try the smoked trout and the duck confit! "Being one of the oldest restaurants in Delft, it's been on my list forever and often recommended by my friends. Finally I got to try it out few nights ago for a dinner. I tried the leek soup with mustard croutons. The soup was well-seasoned and tasty, but I wish the croutons were a bit heavier on the mustard, just a personal preference though. I also tasted their rabbit stew with oven baked potatoes, the rabbit was nicely done, the meat was tender. To finish off, we had the cheesecake and - due to a last minute curious craving - bitterballen for dessert. The cheesecake was light and balanced, surely one of the better cheesecakes I've tried in Delft! The bitterballen aren't housemade, unfortunately, but they use those from the brand Le Bitterbal, it was one of the best commercial bitterballen I've had so far interms of breading to meat ratio. It was quite heavy on the meat, with visible, substantial chunks of meat!

They have a great wine menu with a good selection of wines you can get as a bottle, and some pretty decent quality wines per glass for a really good value. I tried their housemade gluhwein, it was a quite mild one: not too sweet, not too spicy nor too heavy on the alcohol. Perfect for a Sunday evening when you have to work early the next day.

Overall, the place has a charming and cozy interior, it's perfect for a date night or a chill dinner with friends. The staff is also very helpful, our waitress was quite cheerful and the service was fast. I'd definitely come again to check out what they have as the daily dish, there's a good reason why this place has stood the test of time.

EDIT (17/07/2024): LEF has become my go to place for good quality French food for good price! The classics, steak tartare, duck confit and steak frites are possibly one of the best in Delft. Their appetizers and starters are also top notch, made from high quality ingredients. The wine and drinks menu is also decent with plenty of options. The staff is super nice and always smiling. Make sure you check out the daily menu before ordering though. And always leave some room for dessert."
