"We had a celebration dinner for 2 at Le Vieux Jean, which has been recommended by many people and we had a lovely dinner.
Our dinner was during their 50th year celebration so we went for their special 3 course LVJ menu. We were served a cold salad soup with herb panna cotta and we had a beef bourguignon as a roulade with red wine mayonaise and pickled vegetables. These appetizers were all inventive and classic at the same time, really flavorful. Our mains were piglet (stewed pork cheek and roasted pork back) with potato pave and mousse. Served with its own jus. The meat was really well made although potatoes almost stole the show. But our favorite from the whole meal was the brill, though. It was one of the tastiest I've had in the Netherlands! For dessert we could try their pavlova, and baba au rhum. Both well balanced, and just as they should be. Their cheese board is another good option with a good variety of cheese and crackers.
Apart from such a delicious meal, what sets LVJ apart from many restaurants is their 16 page long wine menu. For any Burgundy lover like me, this is highly appreciated. Their menu includes many well known domains and some rare vintages you can choose to pair with your dishes.
We were really happy with our service too, although it was packed full (on a Wednesday evening!) our food arrived fast and the staff is cheerful and kind. The atmosphere inside is also cozy and warm, it's the perfect place for a special night out, be it a date, family gathering or a dinner with friends. Highly recommend it, and we can't wait to go back."

"It was a real disappointment... The food was tasteless. The fish was raw inside and the sauce too acidic. There was an amuse-bouche that totally bland and dry. Just a couple dishes were ok. The service was fine, but a little pretentious. I really don't get the others reviews 🤔"
