One evening a friend and I drank a bottle of prosecco (€27) in the sunshine at PK Kitchen before heading downstairs to the lively terrace of the Rum Club for a cocktail called I’m in Love with the Coco – a gently tart, smooth, almost chewy mix of rum, coconut cream, lime, pineapple, guava and banana (€9.50) – by the water as night fell.

Dit zusje van The Street Food Club (nog zo’n immens populaire hotspot in de stad) is een plek met 200 verschillende rum, bijzondere cocktails en vrolijk opgediend Caribisch eten in een al net zo vrolijk interieur. En dat in een werfkelder aan de Oudegracht.

Ook deze bar bevindt zich centraal in het Utrechtse centrum. De Rum Club is gelegen in een werfkelder aan de Oudegracht en heeft, de naam verklapt het al, een ruime keus aan rums en rumcocktails. Zelfs als rum niet je ding is, kun je bij de Rum Club prima terecht: er staat ook een divers assortiment aan andere zomerse dranken op het menu.

Naast dat ze wel 200 soorten rum serveren drink je hier ook de lekkerste en vooral de allerleukste cocktails. Ga voor de I’m in love with the coco of een You used to call me on my shellphone. En yes, die cocktail wordt geserveerd in een schelp.

The Rum Club is an incredible place to grab a quick drink or stay for a few. It is on the lower level of the canals on Oudegracht aan de Werf. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day and we suggest you do the same if the weather allows.

Ze serveren lekkere cocktails, maar ook de gerechten zijn erg goed. Bij dit restaurant kun je tijdens de lunch, borrel of het diner genieten van geweldige smaken. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan zalm tataki of een frietje Al Pastor.

One delightful example of this sees PK Kitchen upstairs supported by the terraced Rum Club down below. With the water flowing at your side, this makes it a doubly pleasant place to toast an unforgettable trip.
