After cleaning off the dust from the ATV ride at Kelebek (they were kind enough to give us a late checkout so that we could use the showers), we had lunch at Dibek Pottery Kebap upon the recommendation of Kelebek hotel staff. We had an authentic meal prepared by locals who have been living and cooking in the 475 year old home for generations. The building was restored and redecorated in 2004 and is a beautiful setting filled with antique clothing and rugs as decor.

The first name that comes to one’s mind while talking about Testi kebabs is the grand Dibek Restaurant, which is a 475-year-old traditional building located in the heart of the Cappadocia region. Testi kebabs here are served in three different varieties: meat, chicken, and mushrooms; and, depending upon your preference, at least a 4 hours prior reservation is required for its preparation.

Mehmet’s grandmother will slow cook the testi in the original Tandir oven for four hours (order by lunchtime!), while Mehmet and his father wait tables. The family also makes wine, which is an excellent accompaniment to the meal!.

Derya took us to Dibek in her home town if Goreme where we had a lovely Turkish lunch. The next stop was to the Göreme Open Air Museum the ladies rested while a Simon went with his notebook and Derya for a walk through the museum It contains the finest of the rock-cut churches, with beautiful frescoes. It also presents unique examples of rock hewn architecture and fresco technique.

Returning to Arch Palace, I was ever so thankful for the wonderful hot shower. We dried off, rested for a couple off hours....night falls quite suddenly in Cappadocia, and we headed off to dinner. Getting dinner was one of those situation where Mustafa proved his worth.

Dibek was another great restaurant we dined at in Cappadocia. Be sure to reserve in advance if you want to have their famous pottery kebab (which I highly recommend!). We stopped by Dibek on our first night to make a dinner reservation for the following day.

When you enter the cave-like building, you remove your shoes before being led to a low wooden table surrounded by cushions and soft rugs. This is where you’ll eat – shoeless and on the floor (like I often do at home tbh.). The menu is small, but that’s okay.

Return to Göreme and have your last dinner at Dibek restaurant. It’s a cute place that serves great Turkish dishes. Make sure to reserve the table at least a day before and ask for the speciality: Pottery Kebab.

Dibek was also lovely for its pottery kebab (which we had to try), but I would say that it was slightly overrated to me because Top Deck definitely took the crown for us!
